Award availability doesn't seem to look very good:

SeatCounter v. ExpertFlyer
So I'm starting to wonder how good SeatCounter really is and if its time for me to sack up and pay for expert flyer.
Tomorrow I am flying from SLC - CVG - PHL on flights DL792 and DL5454 respectively. SeatCounter shows a ton of seats open on the 792 even though the DL.com seatmap only has two available seats ATM (which I know is a DL.com bug).
SeatCounter.com shows for 792 and 5454 respectively tomorrow.
My question really is one of "Is expertflyer more accurate than this or is DL really the problem here"?

Huh? I'm confused as to which ones you're comparing - seatcounter vs. expertflyer or seatcounter vs. delta.com?
Seatcounter and expertflyer have the same inventory numbers for the various fare classes. And with those numbers you posted on seatcounter, there are not tons of seats open. First is already at F4 A0 which means that the F cabin is already pretty much up there - they can only sell 4 more seats (including overbooking) and only at the highest Full First fare, which pretty much ties with the delta.com seatmap. In Economy, the fact that some of the lower Economy fare classes are already zeroed out shows that it is already quite heavily booked (which is not entirely out of synch with the Delta seatmap either).
IMHO, the additional value of expertflyer is the ability to find hidden classes (upgrade inventory) for many carriers (DL, AA, etc.) that are not available on seatcounter. Seatcounter however does provide hidden upgrade inventory for UA, which cannot be found on expertflyer. Otherwise, for the other 'normal' revenue fare classes, both pretty much are the same...

I've recently subscribed to Exp Fly, and have been a little disappointed. On two occassions, EF have shown V inv avail, while Delta said tghey had no UG seats. Made my UG on one, didn't on the other. Anybody else had this issue?

What do the various Z codes mean in ExpertFlyer?
I've just learned about ExpertFlyer in my attempt to get a BusinessElite upgrade on a trip from BHM to JNB.
My desire is to use SkyMiles to upgrade the longest Transatlantic segment and then again on the return.
I've learned how to look for Z codes, but I'm not clear on the specific differences between Z0, Z4 and Z7.
I'm discovering that there's no Z availability ATL-JNB direct, but that there is Z0 on the ATL-JNB segment if I begin from JFK, which is not totally out of the question, as I could visit friends or do some business beforehand.
Which Z codes are applicable if I want to upgrade with SkyMiles from a coach fare (Y, B, or M, correct?) Do any of those fare classes give me a confirmed upgrade w/ miles?
I am Silver Medallion, if that makes any difference. I'm attempting to travel 4/14 or 4/15, return 5/6 or 5/7.
Thank you very much. I'm starting to get the hang of this.

Searching for Award Seats? 5 day free offer with Expertflyer did the trick for me
Signed up with expertflyer for a 5 day free trial today, after spending an hour on the phone with Delta agent trying to book Biz Class award from DUB to HKG. She eventually came up with something in December 2054 via New Zealand!!!
Just used expertflyer and found two award seats for the End of September!. It took a bit of getting used to, but works well. Rang the Delta agent again and Bob's your uncle, I've got confirmation number in the bag!
I also have checked for Z availability on DUB-JFK and DUB-ATL and it worked a treat, I might even get to burn all by PMU certs this year.
May even pay the $4.99 (€3.65) monthly charge after my free trial ends.

Note that the $4.99 does not give you access to the hidden fares (G and Z for instance )

I can access V, X, G, and Z class availability with the basic subscription. According to expertflyer you can also search for E class, although I've never seen one or know how you can book it. You have to specify those classes in the fare class box. You can't access award availability, N, R, and O I belive for biz, with any subscription.

ExpertFlyer vs DL status
It is my understanding that when using the Award Planner at the DAL website, the flights and availability returned are limited by one's Medallion level.
If this is so, how would it help to use ExpertFlyer to obtain award seats?

Request for help with Expertflyer codes
Aloha All. It may be right in front of my eyes, but I've spent too much time looking. I have done a search here at Flyertalk and then read KVS instructions and even Expertflyer instructions, but what I want to know is: On Expertflyer (which I am trying the first time today) when I pull up seat availablity on specific flights, which codes are the buckets for Delta Award travel in first and Economy including the difference between Skysaver and Skychoice. (I, of course am inputing specific Delta flights and times and getting the Delta codes). Also, If someone knows for Continental and Northwest that would be helpful when I start searching there too.
Thank you ahead of time. Flyly.

For instance, I recently booked a flight from BHM-SLC-LAX-CVG-BHM based on finding G (domestic PMU upgrades) availability on ExpertFlyer.
