Just flew a r/t family trip for 41,500/ea for five passengers from CID > ATL > SRQ. Booked Main, no upgrades in spite of there being a lot of C+ up until ~2 hours on two of the legs.

Just booked 2 weeks in UK for May 9-23, IND-LHR. Main Cabin. Cash price was going to be $952. I got it for 51,800 miles (61,000 - 15% with Amex) plus $200 taxes/fees.
So almost 1.45 cents per mile value ($752/51800). I am happy with it and it is a better value than just pay with miles.

You can only upgrade one companion (for both C+ and FC). No one will be upgrade eligible if there is more than one companion with you on the same reservation (with the exception if everyone in reservation has Medallion status). You'd have to split the reservation so that only one companion is with you on one, and the three others are on another in order to make you and one companion upgrade eligible. Although this has drawbacks as the three others would lose a number of benefits (preferred seats, priority boarding, etc.) if split out on their own reservation.

Snagged a one-way JFK-ORD in basic economy for 4,600 miles + $5.60. This is often an easy upgrade, but with no middle seats the BE price was hard to beat for a quick flight.

Not a great redemption ow MCO-LAX 6/28 in Basic Economy for 14.8K (after 15% discount) vs $209 cash price, but allowed 3rd person to join us on the same outbound flight that the 2 of us had previously booked using a companion certificate. Since we have free bag checking, 3rd person can carry-on only.

TIJ/MEX/AMS/ORK one way in J for 75K miles and $300 in fees and taxes. First two segments on AM, last on KL. Cash fare would have been $3853.

JFK-AUA. 49,200 miles $90 tax

rebooked 2x miles went down and I must have hit a loophole because my Aspire card
gave me 2x credit toward airline credit.

A decent deal for those of us in SoCal. Ex-TIJ awards using AF over the Atlantic drop the taxes to $61. Interestingly, i also find TIJ-MEX-ATL-CDG popping up with D1 DL metal on ATL-CDG for 75k+ $31 which is a rare thing to find at that price! Any ex-US departure like SAN or LAX including that ATL-CDG DL segment on that day will set you back 300k miles (or more). Ex-SJD works too, and may be more convenient for some (and positioning to SJD can often be cheap).

Yep, taxes on award flights are known to trigger the credit: Airline fee $250/$200 reimbursement reports: DL only (2023)

TATL partner award levels out of Mexico and Caribbean do not require TATL segment be flown on partner metal (they only require at least one segment on partner metal). Requirements are found in the "Flight Application" section of award Fare Rules. The old partner levels out of US/Canada (which have been eliminated due to harmonization) used to require partner metal on TATL segment. The cheapest awards levels out of US/Canada require a roundtrip booking on most routes (particularly TATL). For SAN-CDG, there are currently roundtrip D1/business awards from 185K each-way (CSTR1850 awards) with 7 day minimum stay (below), and also 165K each-way (CSTR1650 awards) with a 14 day minimum stay. Min stay requirements are found in the Fare Rules for awards. These correlate with 7 day and 14 day min stay roundtrip D1 Z fares on route.

Found on the award deals page and was able to get 4 JFK-ARN round trip D1 tickets at 150k each. I think that is going to be the new floor for international D1 unfortunately. Lowest I saw/got last year was JFK-LIS for 140k
