I've always avoided JFK for fear of getting stuck in C+ for such a long flight.

Given that US-EU partner J awards now start at 120K, yes that's a pretty good deal. I suspect these 85K/95K partner J awards that overfly EU are probably oversights, and not intentional. But I guess we'll see how long they stick around. The same could be said for 65K D1 awards for Mexico/Caribbean to EU (given that US-EU D1 starts at 105K with a roundtrip/90-day advance booking requirement).

JFK-EU 148K roundtrip seasonal D1 sale
There are currently seasonal D1 awards available from JFK to EU for 148K roundtrip. The normal low-level D1 awards for US-EU are 210K roundtrip. These awards are available for flights between 12/14/2021 - 4/7/2022. Roundtrip booking and 7-day advance purchase required.
I am now seeing them from other markets than JFK (ATL/SEA/MSP/CVG/MCO). Fare loads may still be in progress. Looks like this may be a 48-hour flash sale and awards must be booked by midnight on Thursday 12/9.

Booked two tickets for CDG-FRA on 12/30 for 10,000 miles each. Air France wanted $175 each for their equivalent of Basic Economy so I'm happy with this.

Depending on where you're starting/going, you might want to consider cancelling and taking the train. The nonstops on ICE/TGV are less than 4 hours and are between 49.90 and 99.90 EUR on DB's site for that day. If you're going to be in the city in both places, traveling from Gare de l'Est to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is easier than going to the airports. FRA isn't bad for getting into the city if you're at T1, but if you're flying AF to T2 you have to take the bus to the train station unless they fix the SkyLine tram before then.
