I have a comfortable layover in SLC but given the trend I figured it would keep delaying enough that I'd miss the connection and have to spend the night beached in SLC.

I used the website Find Alternate Flights feature to rebook onto a similar itinerary tomorrow. WU (Assigned At Gate) and F, respectively.

Do I have any options or entitlement to any compensation, even just Sky£?

Lot of variables here, but the key thing that you did that will preclude you from compensation was rebook your flight voluntarily. The last flight from SLC to SEA sometimes has delays and the time from gate to gate is often a lot shorter when you get delayed since there is less traffic and so the odds of making that flight were a lot better than you thought. If you ended up missing the connection and the delay was due to mechanical or other reasons within Delta's control, Delta would have paid for your hotel and given you some miles. If the reason for the delay was an act of God, you would not and should not receive anything.

It depends on why the flight was delayed. Using the DL rebooking tool to rebook doesn't change what the should compensate. If you could have made it tonight even with the delay they probably won't do much. Did the rebooking tool show any other options for tonight? It normally will show even crazy routings if it can get you there.

I am not lookinf for compensation but I was not able to get to my destination due to thuderstorms a few weeks back in ATL. Only made it to ATL on a PBI-ATL-SJC-SFO-ATL-PBI R/T.

I was issued a voucher for the remaining fare balance but is this refundable also? I would prefer a refund.

Ended up setting appointments in ATL and bought a one way ticket home to PBI.

Why didn't you use your last segment for the return to PBI? (Or at least the voucher to buy that ticket)

Ticket number wasn't working online and there was a 2.5 hour wait to speak to a phone agent (no status with DL and was already in a hotel room).
It's business and get reimbursed so wasn't out any personal money.

I called in the next day and the value of unused portion was ~$760 and agent said I would need to call in to use. She didn't offer refund.

Since OP couldn't make it to final destination and turned around and flew home - wouldn't 'trip in vain' give OP a full refund?

$100 Check for Incidentals

Last week of June I was on a flight that was massively (>8 hours) delayed. While I was sitting in the airport I got a call from a Delta rep who apologized and offered to send a $100 check to cover expenses I may have incurred while hanging around the airport all day. Naturally I accepted the offer.

But - it occurred to me today that said check has not appeared. Anyone know how long such a thing takes? And is there any recourse if it never shows? FWIW, they later sent an e-mail and credited my account 20K miles. Did not say it was in lieu of anything else.

What would standard compensation be for a Main Cabin and First Class itinerary that's been delayed due to the system-wide technology outage today? Let's say 12-24 hours delayed. What would you expect for miles or TCV?

Are the CSR folks going to be taking your recommendation as the standard for this event? If so, then I'd say about 30K SkyPesos sounds fair ;)

Would expect Regulation 261/2004 amounts: 250 minimum in cash, multiply x2 if it's a TCV and more when in first/D1.
Economy 5000 SkyMiles, First/D1: multiply x2

We were on a J DL/KLM award from Newark to JRO via AMS. Flight was 5 hours late leaving EWR (mechanical). No food offered but cart snacks and some pizza after J already boarded. No hotel supplied on arrival to AMS. Paid for own hotel and food for 24 hour delay (1 flight per day AMS to JRO). Nothing proactively offered from Delta. Eventually received $300 check and 25k miles pp.

No one's ever asked me for a specific amount. Airport agents can't issue compensation anyway... I'm just curious.

It appears to me that OP made it to the final destination, but didn't make it home on that ticket.

What should happen and what happens in practice are two different thngs.

Last fall a 24 hour delay in getting to europe on a paid business class ticket got $0 and 0 miles. Was a mechnical delay.

Yet when I needed to add a day to a European trip it cost me $450. Change fee not fare difference.

Ugh, just got notification my flights have been cancelled JAX-ATL tomorrow morning. Nice 3-hour hold time. What's strange is that flights before me and after thr 7:25am are still available. Unfortunately, delta cancelled my entire reservation so couldn't SDC.

What's good comp for a FC fare (A)?
