Date: 5/30/17
Route: OGG-LAX Status: FO Issue: No ones IFE was working the entire flight. Compensation: Got an email without asking 30 min after my flight stating that 5,000 miles would be deposited into my account. |
ATL-FRA in seat 3D. Video monitor was stuck on lowering brightness and volume automatically to lowest levels. FA tried resetting and worked for volume, but brightness still lowered auto to lowest setting.
Compensation: 15,000 skymiles |
Route: ATL-MAD
Fare: Coach Status: None as of the flight, FB Silver after trip Issue: Could not check in online, via app, or at kiosk. Took an hour at the counter to check-in. I had purchased a DL economy ticket, paid to upgrade to Comfort+. Once checked in, I went from having a seat assignment to standby. Found a Red Coat near the gate who helped me, she had to move some people around, moved a guy to DeltaOne, to get me my seat. Wrote to DL after the trip to express my frustration and to compliment the Red Coat. Compensation: Phone call from the Refund Team a month later who apologized and refunded me the upgrade seat cost (Still earned Skymiles and MQD for it). A month after that, I received an email letting me know that I would be receiving 7,500 Skymiles for the issue. |

Purchasing "Delta One" technically does not entitle one to fly in a lie-flat seat (per the Contract of Carriage) domestically. Thus I am surprised any fare difference refund was offered - especially at the airport, and not afterwards via Corporate Refunds.
Why did you also receive a $800 and $200 voucher? The $200 voucher is likely for the "downgrade" from D1 to Domestic F. But $800 is usually an amount reserved for voluntarily denied boardings... |
Route: JFK-LHR
Fare: Business, reservation made using Flying Blue miles Status: None Issue: Seat was completely broken, zero recline, leg rest barely extended Compensation: 40k Skymiles. Originally offered $150 travel voucher on the plane; then filed online claim and waited 4 weeks with no response, called and offered 20k. I insisted that the bare minimum should be the difference between the lowest-level business and coach values -- 70k / 30k -- they finally relented. |
ROUTE: PHX-SEA
FARE: First ISSUE: Weather/Heat bumped from flight for weight restriction. COMPENSATION: $400ea for myself and my wife a hotel for the night and meal vouchers. Should I have asked for more? I feel like there is still time seeing this just happened Monday 25 June. |

I always check for seat functionality before a long flight. If it's broken, I'm asking for rebooking options plus a nice voucher. |
a couple of reports
DTW-STL canceled for crew time out after series of rolling delays, which resulted in me bypassing an opportunity to connect to STL via CVG. remaining two DTW-STL flights were canceled for weather. ended up flying to PIA and driving. DL mis-directed my bag and it wasn't returned to me for 36 hours. after writing in, i received 15K miles for the whole thing. FO status. SLC-SMF delayed 4 hours, last flight of the night, would have arrived at about 3am. i rebooked myself to OAK and then wrote in asking for a DL voucher to offset the cost of the rental car and the annoyance of having to drive OAK-SMF at 11pm. received a check from DL for the cost of the rental car ($82) and 5000 miles. FO status. |
Route: JFK-RDU
Fare: RU, from cheap econ Status: GM Issue: FA in F did far less than the bare minimum on this short flight, with exactly zero passes through the cabin after the first round of drinks was tersely served (the other FA collected everything prior to landing, and no PDB, of course). He had quite the attitude and spent most of the flight yapping loudly with an upgraded nonrev in the galley that I could hear clearly in row 4 of a CR9. Let DL know that I simply wanted to alert them and that I absolutely did not want any compensation since it's their superior level of service on a regular basis that made him stand out in a such a negative way. Compensation: 7,500 miles |

Did you ask for SM? They can give FB miles. I've had the reverse a couple of times.

Sadomasochism. JK. SkyMiles. Although some would argue that participating in SM is a form of SM.

Route: HSV-ATL-BGI
Fare: C+ Status: PM What Happened: Three hour ten minutes delay at HSV (DL155) due to mechanical issues. We were put on the next flight (DL591), also delayed. We had a CNX to the once a week departure to BGI (Sat only). Baggage ended up not being moved to new flt and we were told DL had no interline agreement with any other carriers that flew to BGI. Spouses bags arrived late Sunday night. My bag went the opposite direction to YYZ and sat for 31+ hours. It was delivered late Monday night. 3 days of missed vacation Compensation: 2,500 later than 20 mins miles. Nothing else from delayed bag office. Offer of some SkyPeso's but not enough. |
