You flew ATL-LHR in J and they're telling you bags are delayed 2 days? That makes no sense. There are multiple such flights a day. The bag should have been on the next flight...
If you're in the middle of a trip and still have a return, I would say tell your partner that if she keeps it under $500 you will be all good. More than that really depends on your status and how much/how expensive your ticket was, plus how bad their delay was in reuniting you with your bag. Hope you enjoy the wedding. Whole thing is bizarre - we were delayed 40 minutes out of ATL waiting for connecting passengers (and our own layover was 2.5ish hours) and my bag made it without issue. DL LHR rep thought that perhaps they forgot to put a cargo bin on the plane (???)

Delta never ever ever agrees to any reimbursement amount in advance. I can't even believe you are suggesting this!
DL's normal delayes bag brochure says they will reimburse $50 per day. The Sky Priority brochure doesn't state an amount, but rather says that "reasonable expenses" will be reimbursed. I don't know of any airline where a baggage service office employee - or any other airline employee - agrees to any amounts in advance. They need to know how long the delay was, and if you were ever reunited with your bag, as a key element in the amount determination process! |
The total limit of liability is approx. $1500-$1900. If you had to spend more than $1,000, requesting reimbursement online and mentioning this was your wedding day, you needed a gown and makeup, and you were a Delta One customer should help.

Flew JFK-SEA with an ongoing connection to YYJ
Delayed inbound aircraft along with two mechanical issues as well as a return to gate due to a medical emergency caused me to miss my flight the YYJ and have to overnight in SEA and arriving over 12 hours after originally scheduled time. Offered 100 delta voucher |
4/5/17 SLC-LAX, LAX-SYD and return. Family of four, 3 tix on miles, one on cash.
Departure date was April 5 (the day with all the chaos). First leg scheduled to leave at 8:39pm, 50 minute connection at LAX. Get a message at 2pm saying SLC-LAX flight delayed 2 hours because no pilots. I called Delta and said, hey we will miss our SYD flight if this thing is delayed. They said, sorry we have no other flights today with availability. Agent then tried other airlines to get us to LAX and said them same--no seats. I said--I can grab 4 seats right now on AA and agent said go for it. I paid 612 dollars for the four one way SLC-LAX seats. I called back and told a supervisor that I got the seats. She said if I filed a claim, they'd reimburse it. So I filed a claim, and while in SYD got a response asking for receipts, which I sent straight away. Claim gets bumped up to Corporate Refunds. The supervisor there says they will refund the difference between Delta fare and AA fare for that leg. I say, that is unsatisfactory--I had a contract with Delta for X, then because Delta couldn't fulfill their end, I had to incur a cost of 612 and that is what should be refunded....not 3,750 miles x 3 and 150 bucks. (So they aren't even paying the difference...they are trying to rebate the advance fare for the Delta leg and sticking me with the last minute one way fare...) I have some pending Delta Vacations where payment is due, and I even specified at the outset that a Delta credit for 612 was fine. (I also asked for the missed MQMs/Miles on the SLC-LAX leg.) BUT DELTA IS DENYING MY CLAIM! Am I being unreasonable? |

Looking for guidance on baggage reimbursement. Was on DL 32 yesterday and girlfriend's bag didn't make it. We have a wedding we are attending tmrw and it's not likely to make it in time. Bag has all her makeup and wedding clothes - what is "reasonable" to expect for reimbursement so she doesn't have to wear the same clothes she's wearing now to the wedding.
If it matters this was a J award ticket. Pleased with the resolution though doesn't make up for the time lost to shopping for all of that instead of joining in the pre-wedding festivities but better than I had hoped for. |
Hi everyone, 1st time poster so hopefully you guys can help me out.
I booked a RT flight from SJU-PHX but did not take the outbound from SJU due to the thunderstorm/delta system crash on April 7th. Delta wasn't able to fly me out until 2 days later which would ruin my plan so I had to book a 1 way out of SJU from AA. I did take the return flight and Delta has refunded me approx 40% of the price for the RT and 20k miles for the inconvenience. Is this a reasonable amount or am I being unreasonable for expecting to get at least 1/2 of the ticket price refunded? Thank you. |

In terms of the DL ticket cost, each leg has its own fare component, so I'm guessing that your outbound flight accounted for 40% of the RT cost, and so that's what they refunded you. The 20K SkyMiles sounds more like a CS gesture than an intended reimbursement - lots of people got that for the April meltdown, even if they ended up flying their original delayed flights. Welcome to FT! |

It's potentially reasonable - however, my question to you is whether your out-of-pocket cost for the new OW flight SJU-PHX was significantly higher than half the cost of your RT. If the answer to that is yes (which is likely since it was last-minute), then I might push DL for more of a reimbursement on that basis.

I had a broken IFE during my flight and received a phone call saying they would deposit 15000 skymiles to my account.
Its been a week and it hasn't shown up yet. How long does it usually take for them to deposit this? |

Route: SFO-JFK-AUA (became SJC-ATL-AUA)
Fare: Delta One / First Status: None (Flying Blue Platinum) Rerouted because of SFO-JFK leg delayed by 4 - 5 hrs, which would cause me to miss connection to AUA, causing me to fly on a regular recliner FC instead of flat-bed D1 on a red-eye, about 1 - 2 hrs delay in arrival to AUA. Refunded fare difference between FC and D1 and SkyClub fee in ATL, but also $800 and $200 vouchers. Not bad ^ |
Route: AMS-SEA
Issue: AVOD not working in C+ Comp: 20,000 SkyPesos |

The $200 voucher is likely for the "downgrade" from D1 to Domestic F. But $800 is usually an amount reserved for voluntarily denied boardings... |
