I understand the YQ eith D1 equipped flights. Just pointing out they don't have to refund it and keep you at same base fare. They can simply refund the whole ticket, leaving you to pay then available rates. May be worth it, may not be.

Purchased an upgrade to first for my route to KEF because it had lie flat seats, they changed the aircraft to the non lie flat, called and they refunded me the upgrade cost, put me in comfort plus and threw 10k skymiles to myself and my companion.
Would have preferred the lie flat seats for the rate that I got them during their most recent IT mess up but not worth any $$ for standard first seats |
Route: LAX-JFK
Fare: C+ (Y upgraded at gate) Status: GM What Happened: Transcon-config 764 had mechanical issue before boarding. Domestic (no D1) 752 swapped in after a 3 hour delay. Smaller seat pitch on domestic 752 vs transcon/D1 configged planes. - My seat's IFE broken. FA's attempted to "reboot" multiple times to no avail - GoGo system down. As in, WiFi network doesn't appear for any pax. So, unable to access internet, also unable to access Delta Studio in lieu of broken IFE - FAs unable to serve hot water or tea in flight due to "frozen water lines" - 45mins for bags to arrive at belt upon arrival Wrote Delta but no reply yet. What's fair/expected? Update: Received a call from Delta with an apology and 15k SM in my account. |
Route: GEG-SLC-AUS
Fare: C+ (upgrade after purchase) Status: PM Our departure time was 4:45PM. The first segment of flight was delayed 3 times and we cannot make our connection at SLC (schedule 8:30PM). Called Delta and were rebooked to Alaska Airline GEG-SEA-AUS flights, departed 8:45PM and the second segment was a red eye flight. We arrived 5:20AM which was 5 hours late than originally scheduled. Compensation: $100 voucher for both me and my wife. Wrote to Delta to ask for more and still waiting. |
Hello all, I thought I might ask the community for some recommendations here. My wife and I are supposed to be on tomorrow morning's DL4066, 6:15am-9:30am from ORD-JFK. I just received notification that the flight is cancelled and we are now booked on DL3510, 2:55pm-6:30pm. This will put us into New York exactly 9 hours later. The trip was booked with SkyMiles for both of us.
This was supposed to be a quick weekend trip, we are returning on Jet Blue on Monday afternoon. This 9 hour delay is a pretty big annoyance since we are losing a large chunk of our weekend time in New York, and also have to cancel lunch plans with friends. Currently the wait time on the phone is quoted as "over 2 hours." The online replacement options show a single nonstop that gets in even later, or 2-stop journeys that leave at 6am and arrive in NYC around 5pm (not worth all that effort to save 1.5 hours). There is nothing better available for paid fares either (everything seems sold out), so it seems that the options they are presenting are indeed the only ones available. I have no way to know what has caused this cancellation - weather in Chicago and New York is fine today and tomorrow but that's about all I know. Am I due any compensation here? If so, what is the best way to request said compensation? Is there any way for me to find out the reason for the cancellation? Any other recommendations you might have for me? I appreciate any responses - thank you! |

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...uly-7-a-2.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...-7-2017-a.html so it could be because of where flights ended up etc. There's an earlier non-stop but it only seems to have one seat available on it now. If you stick with the later DL flight they might throw you some miles as compensation for getting you there much later. But if you want to get in earlier I'd suggest cancelling the DL flight (you're entitled to a full refund) and booking the 8:44 am jetBlue flight instead. |
Thanks Zorak. I got through the phone line in about 90 minutes and Delta indicated that weather was the cause of the cancellation. Even though the flight is tomorrow it seems like JFK is a madhouse tonight, so I guess that makes some sense. I thought the weather was fine in New York today but I guess I was wrong! I asked about compensation, maybe some miles, and was flat out denied because it was weather related. I guess we'll just have to accept the cancellation as a cost of doing business, although it's disappointing to see other airlines having earlier flights still available (B6, UA, AA all have flights but they are prohibitively expensive compared to my original DL flight, so getting a refund wouldn't work).

So the fact that other airlines still have their earlier flights tomorrow is not really relevant.

The B6 flight I mentioned is $154 per person, which seems pretty good for T-7h. https://goo.gl/flights/jFyk |
Route: DCA-JFK
Fare: RU (X) Status: PM What Happened: Woke up to an involuntary downgrade from FC to C+ due to DL needing to accommodate a paid FC passenger. With much of the DCA-NYC schedule being cancelled yesterday, I'm not surprised. First supervisor wanted to give me exactly $0 in compensation, but I got the second to issue the standard voucher. Compensation: $200 It's just a 200 mile flight. I'm glad to take a voucher in this case. |
I received a compensation voucher for $75. Apart from part payment for a future flight, what else can I use it for?.
Any helpful ideas will be welcomed. Thanks in advance. |
How long do compensation miles requested by FAs from their PDAs for on-board issues take to post to Skymiles accounts? Service issue occurred on August 28 for 5K miles and a separate issue on August 29 for 15k miles.

This weekend, we were delayed from SEA > YVR for 3.5hours due to them having to swap out planes from a lightning strike (happened before we boarded the plane, then they de-boarded us and said it would be an hour which turned into 3.5hours)
How much compensation is reasonable for this kind of delay? Do we just submit it via contact us on deltas site? |

How much compensation is reasonable for this kind of delay? Do we just submit it via contact us on deltas site? I would say a lightning strike on the inbound flight would be a weather related delay similar to if the inbound was delayed due to thunderstorms or snow, so I would not expect any compensation from this. Its a bummer, I know - we have all experienced weather related delays. If you do complain, my guess would be a 5,000 mile goodwill gesture. Yes, the contact us link is where you would submit such a complaint. |
Yesterday I was given 15k RDMs as compensation for totally nonfunctional IFE in C+ from JFK to LAX.
