My SEA-AMS flight a few weeks ago was 5 hour late -- they actually subbed a 332 for the 763 that broke.
By the time I checked email I had 10K SkyPennies in my account. Had a two hour delay on the return SEA-LAX and got nothing. Also had two four hour+ delays in July -- (JFK-FRA and DTW-LAX) These were 2+ hour MX delays that were further delayed when a storm came thru. DL said these were "Weather related" even though without the MX we would have been long gone... |

I think EU261 only applies to flights departing from EU airports

Correct as far as non-EU/EEA/Swiss airlines are concerned. For EU/EEA/Swiss airlines, the Reg applies to flights both from and to the EU/EEA/Switzerland.

Ahh, my mistake - that's what I get for posting before drinking coffee. Too bad the delay wasn't ex-AMS...

My situation: was scheduled on PHX-SLC-IND on Monday, arriving 1am on Tuesday. A few hours before the flight, got a msg from DL that PHX-SLC delayed to have only 3 minutes for the connection (which obviously wouldn't work). At that point the only other option was to route thru LAX and take the LAX-IND red eye, arriving Tue 6am, in time for work. No other carriers had better schedule. So I took it. Between @DeltaAssist and the LAX SC attendant, I was able to sit in EconomyComfort on both flights, which helped. However, it was a longer route on a red eye, I lost a night of sleep and was a zombie the next day at work (not to mention the hours lost reacting to the change), arriving 4.5 hours later than scheduled.
Do you believe additional compensation is due? |

Not sure if this is "sticky"-worthy, but the US PIRG has a infographic with the latest DOT Flyer Bill of Rights summary here..

Anyone have experience with a flatbed seat not going fully flat? Was on an 11-hour flight on an A333 and my seat's sleep setting went to a jagged angle lie flat sort of configuration. Resetting the seat did not fix it, so I just dealt with it. Purser wrote down my SM number nd said he would make sure I am taken care of, but didn't say with how many Skypesos. What should I expect?

Update: wrote to customer service on a Sunday, got a reply in a few hours with 7.5K.
Impressed by DL customer service so far.

DL2598 YUL-ATL Nov 20 I have flown this route many times, and am pleased DL has upgraded equipment to 717 and moved its gate from the far end of the terminal to directly across from customs/immigration. Imagine a full flight's surprise when the embarassed pilot announces that a water line is frozen (it's a mild 25 degrees F outside) and that we won't be able to take off until it is thawed. Flight departs 4.5 hours later...!
Managed a $75 voucher from stingy DCC. |
PVG-SEA-SFO. Was UG'd to J and F via GUC. SEA-SFO was CX due to WX in SFO (lot of that lately, third trip in a row with cancelled flight). Rebooked into Y. Is it worth a complaint?
