3:30 goes under the heading of "sh!t happens." They probably will follow the TCV with something like 3750 SkyPesos.

Compensation: Delay, Delays and Delayed Flight

JFK-DCA delayed by two hours so I was able to get on JFK-IAD as a standby passenger; new flight departed at the original departure time of the now delayed flight.

Since I had to fly into another airport and commute from there to home, would I be compensated for the trouble?

Let it be, got it. Just asking.

Compensation????

For the airline getting you where you were going in a seat in the class of service for which you paid?

Are you serious?

Better question... Bag delayed on DL JFK-PRG. Back home and no bag still, coming up on two weeks. Any compensation for this?

2 weeks seems excessive. Do they have any update on its status?

I got 20K miles for a 4+ hour delay, in paid J. We were stuck on the tarmac in ATL for all 4+ hours, although they did return to the gate to refuel (and opened to boarding door to reset the clock).

Yea they delivered the bag to the address I was staying at in PRG after I left, even though I confirmed several times that the bag was to be sent back to my home address because I had returned already. Now a friend in PRG is holding onto my bag

Just wanted to ask your opinion.

I was on a flight from BOS - DTW supposedly departing 12:34PM and arriving 2:39pm. In DTW, I'm supposed to get connecting flight DTW-NGO departing 3:50PM then onward to Manila.

In BOS, we boarded on time but there were some issue with power connection (wasn't very clear to me) and we were stayed on the flight while they were fixing it. Around 1:15PM they announced we were departing in 15 or 30 minutes, latest 1:45 but by around almost 2PM, they announced the issue reoccurred and it seems they needed more time and asked everyone to deplane. By that time, I would have missed my connecting flight already.

I talked to an agent at the desk and I was rerouted BOS-AMS (via DL), AMS-TPE with onward connecting to MNL (via KL). Flight from BOS-AMS departed at 4:59PM arrival the next day at 5:50AM (red-eye). I had to give description of my baggage so that it could follow me on my new flights and have them retagged. The flight from AMS-TPE-MNL will be departing from 8:40PM and it wasn't explained well by the agent and was asked to check-in and see agents upon arrival in AMS, together with the baggage tag just to be sure as I wasn't checked in with KLM yet nor they can have me checked-in thru the DL system (as per the agent).

In AMS, I'm surprised there were no DL agents, and only KL agents. I've asked what to do in almost 15 hours layover and if there's anything they can do for me but was suggested to just go to the airport hotel (as I cannot go out of the city without a visa) and keep the receipt and that DL should compensate me. I have no way of contacting DL office at that time (as it was close) and there weren't any on the ground either, so I just checked in as I was exhausted with the redeye flight and needed to catch some sleep.

Looking back, I have overlooked that the rerouted flight just made me arrive only 4 hours earlier than the supposed route should I took it the following day (it wasn't even offered at the desk).

Should I expect anything from DL for this? I tried to write them message through the website 4 days ago and awaiting for response.

Thank so much for the advise!

Question...

Today my first leg was delayed due to mechanical issues. I missed my connection in ATL to Miami ...

Before I boarded the first leg I called delta and the agent booked me on flight from ATL to Miami and then mentioned she could put me on an American airlines flight instead if I didn't mind getting in late today.

At that point my cellphone call failed me ... I lost the agent and when I called back the only option they offered me was to spend the night in a hotel in ATL. Which is what I am doing now ...

Does Delta fly you on competitors in situations like this?

@scejas - they do. I remember JAL is also an option intra asia for them. not sure if all other airlines they are able to book their passengers on

Absolutely you should receive some compensation. If I understand correctly, you arrived ~20hrs later than originally scheduled due to the mechanical issue and delay out of BOS.

Were you provided any meal vouchers or anything for the delay/layover to use in AMS?

In your email do DL, if you didn't summarize as this, you should be brief and simply explain that you were delayed out of BOS due to a mechanical issue which would cause you to miss your international flight out of DTW, so you were rerouted and arrived xxx hrs later than originally scheduled, and (I assume) not given any hotel or meal vouchers.
Did you ask for refund of your hotel expense in AMS and incidentals, as well as miles for the trouble?

So for the third time in roughly 7 weeks, my plane has been delayed cancelled (mechanical) resulting in my spending a night in a random connection city. Each time, I have written a complaint and received 15k miles.

This third time, my flight arrived into cvg at approximately 845am, scheduled to leave again at 950am. initially, flight was delayed 1.5 hours to fix a mechanical problem.. $6 meal vouchers were issued. at around 11am, flight is cancelled. I am re-booked on a 745pm flight to atl, and then a 10pm flight from atl to my final destination.

after sitting around the airport waiting all day, i get a call at around 615pm saying that my flight has been delayed till 845 (later found out it was due to a passenger malfunction, literally no idea what that means). anyhow, i would have ended up missing my connect, so i spent the night in cinci, and got up and took the same flight 24hrs later.

i was considering not even writing, but i had to spend $50 on a shirt at the airport due to this. thoughts?

thanks for the advise. I did on my email elaborated and told them I kept the receipts for the hotel. I wasn't given hotel voucher but was given meal voucher (or airport voucher for anything 25USD) in BOS, being the flight delayed for 4.5 hours in BOS.

still waiting for response though from DL. will do follow up as there are grounds like you mentioned for the said claim.
