So my SEA-HKG today was cancelled and rebooked as a new leg (new flight#) tomorrow morning. For a total of ~18hours delay. No compensation was offered and multiple redcoats rebuffed my request. What are my options?
I just make note of the events and deal with the DM CSR when I have access to a US toll free number. |

HKG is a contracted outstation, Joey might be wearing a red coat but she is not a DL employee. They are all working for Jardine Aviation who does airport services for airlines who does not have a employed crew there.

Tuesday JFK-NRT was delayed after pushing back due to a instrument failure that had to be repaired, we held at a remote bay (did not get off plane) for the duration, lifted off 3 hours late. I was tweeting with delta about possibly missing my connection. A few min later i got a email apologizing for the delay (looked like the Twitter agent had filled in a complaint forum for me and sent it in) giving me 5,000 sky pesos.

We were scheduled to fly LAS-SLC-CVG. Right after boarding a ground stop was announced in LAS- it was long enough to cause a misconnect. Though we were still at the gate with the jet bridge attached, the crew wouldn't allow us to deplane (so we could take the LAS-CVG redeye). We ended up flying LAS-SLC-SEA-CVG. I received 10K skypesos, my wife (PM) received 15K.

By the way, one of the Delta crew members said that CRJ's do not do well in very cold weather on the ground as they had ongoing problems on these Central Canadian routes during the Winter, which is a pitty as it seems that RJ's is all Delta fly to destination who's call letters start with a "Y". [This message has been edited by Flying_Duck (edited Jan 11, 2004).] That being said most of my delay issues come while I am in Canada. I can count on one hand the times i have missed connections flying from YYZ, YUL, YOW. Even flying AC i get delays. I just booked two trips into YYZ in November. I make sure i have at least 3 hours connection time now. My wife b1tches but its worth the flight back to LAX with an arrival of 11:30+ just to make it home. When she sees anything Canada on my travel schedule she always sends me off with a "See you in 3 days" even though my trips are 1 to 2 days. :p |

Very satisfied with this compensation --
Returning XIY-PEK-DTW-DCA a week ago I woke up to a message that the PEK-DTW flight has been cancelled/delayed and DL had rebooked me through PVG to arrive home at the same time. After I got back to the US, I also found a message from DL customer service apologizing for the inconvenience and telling me that 7500 miles would be posted to my account. All was fine until I got to the XIY airport to find that although DL had reserved my flight XIY-PVG they hadn't reissued the ticket and without the reissue, China Eastern wasn't going to fly me to PVG. I carry an international cell phone and I called DL from the China Eastern ticket desk. 40 minutes and some aggravation later the ticket was reissued and I had my new boarding passes. When I got home I wrote to the agent who had issued the 7500 mile credit thanking him and indicating that I thought a bit more was in order because of the cost of the call (about $60) and the hour of aggravation at XIY because the ticket had not been reissued. I asked for a $200 ECV - this morning I got a response from the original agent and a $200 ECV in my Delta wallet. All in all, I'm satisfied. I didn't think I was being greedy with my request and Delta agreed, I guess. |
Early announcement of delay PHF-ATL--last of the day-- led me to SDC to next earlier flight. That one was delayed too (although I didn't mind since I now had a long layover). Connection ATL-DFW delayed as well. 3 delays for only 2 legs!..all of them more than 45 minutes. 8000 SMs.

In August, I was booked on a DL operated flight from AMS->SEA that was cancelled after I was already checked in and was at the airport. I got on the phone and managed to get home the same day, but through JFK.
When I got back home in the states, I saw a ad for one of those compainies that offer to negotiate compensation per EU 261. Giving them 25% to negotiate for me seemed like too much so I came here to FlyerTalk and searched. I found the posting where BigAppleCoder shared his experiences with compensation for issues with flights leaving Europe per EU regulation 261/2004. So, I gathered up my boarding passes, made a pdf and submitted a pretty simple summary of the facts via the online Delta complaint form. Today, 5 weeks later, I received an email that a check is in the mail for $797 US dollars (600 euro) as requested. Thanks BigAppleCoder. You Rock! |
