ATL is a complete sh*t show. 300+ in line in E so I didn't even bother. Found a hotel room in Buckhead, for pete's sake. NOTHING near airport. Can't apply alternate flight online, can't get an agent on phone. I've been awake 24 hours now. I honestly have to say $200 is not enough. I've been pleasant and flexible, but $200 is just not going to cut it. And I do hope they reimburse for the hotel room. If I'd waited around for help from DL at ATL, I'd be standing there still tomorrow lunch. Not sure when I'll get home. May drive if I'm awake enough. Sigh.

They aren't selling one-time/day passes today due to overcrowding. Still a big line to try to get flights fixed/changed/etc., and has been that way since I first got here something like 8 hours ago. IF my flight takes off at the currently-scheduled time (after an earlier cancellation) I should end up getting home about 12 hours late. |

Just as I was finally boarding my flight, the next gate over announced that the long delayed LAX-ATL flight was moved to the next evening, almost 22 hours out. I never did look back to see whether the GAs got mobbed as a result... |
Added sections tomorrow
According to EF, DL is running two added sections of the nonstop MSP-ATL flight tomorrow morning at 8 am, both using 757 equipment. At the moment, both of them are Y9 with lower coach inventory classes zeroed out; availability of W, G A P, and full F seats is close to 9 across the board. They're DL 9863 and 9864, scheduled to arrive at ATL at 11:25 am and 11:30 respectively.
If you're trying to travel between other hubs or major business airports, check to see whether any extra flights have been added. However, the added sections could well be repositioning flights (or ferry flights where passengers are permitted to ride also) added for DL's convenience in trying to restore their network schedule. |

Stuck at LAX, waiting for a LAX-AUS flight. Communication has been terrible! Twice now I left the SC thinking that dept was imminent...first time there was even a plane coming into the gate (ground crew did not know what plane it was, turned out to be bound for Portland). I understand the delays as a residual of the outage, but the confusion seems to be getting worse instead of better as the evening progresses...
Outside the SC it's positively apocalyptic. People are crashed every which way because of course there aren't enough seats. Kids are screaming. The "need help" line rivals anything I've ever seen at Disneyland. Delta folks are pushing carts with water and snacks through all of this. It's a disaster and I truly hope SOME lesson will be learned from all of this...! as for lessons learned, I'm sure things will be looked at but I'm not really sure what DL can do about it. Small things sure but when an airline has a massive IT failure like this its going to snowball into a complete s**t show. IMO DL is handling this much better than WN did a few weeks ago. The most important thing is the IT department building in a little more redundancy to prevent this from happening again.

but do all you can to let DL know. Twitter is a good idea. I have a feeling that $200 is going to be the base line. Fully expect more on a case by case basis. DL seems to do a good overall job handling these issues. IMO.

Also want to add best of luck to anyone flying over the next few days. Situation really sucks and I hope everyone can get home as quickly as possible. |

No waiver for tomorrow yet. I have a DL Connection flight and they won't let me switch to a mainline (I figure less chance of irops, but maybe that's a bad assumption?!) as waiver is only for today.

Mainline was the problem today. Overall, DC was largely on-time since the technology outage didn't affect their systems. The only risk with DC is Delta giving preference to mainline for ground delay programs.

Anyone else's trip not showing up right now in the app or online? Got an email saying my flight departing Bwi at 6am was delayed but now my trip is missing from my account.

no curfew at MSP tonight
DL 2070, a MD-90 nonstop from MSP to PHX, is now boarding. They had been scheduled to depart at 2:29 am and arrive at 3:23, but obviously they're later than that now. Original schedule was to depart at 10:05 pm and arrive at 11:25 pm. I feel sorry for those folks, crew as well as passengers, plus the GAs and rampers that are working very very late tonight.

Itinerary will be there, then disappear, reappear again, etc. Been using DL flight status (and Flightaware and Flightstats) to see what is going on. |
System still screwed up. Rerouted thru LGA but the flight is already 3 hours delayed which means I am going to miss the connection to FLL. Delta has me in FLL for 1 hour and then I need to get on my return flight home. I had an 8am meeting in Miami. This is an epic shitstorm for Delta.
The only good thing is I am typing this from my house...:) |
