Will be happy to; I'm also on a CPH-JFK routing later in the week; if the program is extended to that routing, I'll share too.

I'm on ATL-AMS on the 8th and received the email on the 5th.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8cc0a44f97.jpg

I've got my first eligible flight with this coming up and received the email three days in advance. The options are basically pasta, shrimp, ribs, or chicken. I'm overall not that excited by any of the options and am thinking the main benefit of this feature might be to advise myself to bring a pizza.

I know this probably belongs in the wiki thread on in-flight meals, but has anyone tried the crab cakes? Is there a photo out there?

Thank you!! I'm going SEA-AMS in D1 in a couple weeks and have been curious about what to expect.

Can you please provide your impression of your meal after you've flown and had a chance to catch up?

Thanks!

I had the chicken. The stuff that came with it was decent. The actual chicken itself was typical mediocre airline chicken. Overall, the food was the usual disappointing D1 offering. I have business class trans-atlantic flights in July on Air Canada and August on Lufthansa, looking forward to those for a change of pace.

The smoked chicken breast was actually quite good. They left the skin on so it was tender and moist. I was really surprised.

Flying DTW-NRT, here are the menu options (same as sea-Ams, except includes a Japanese option):

LEMON CARAMELLE PASTA
with cherry tomato sauce, lemon oil and arugula
GRILLED LEMON CHICKEN
with tzatziki sauce, greek rice with lemon, parsley and grilled peppers
POTATO CRUSTED HALIBUT
with sweet corn mousseline and heirloom tomato salsa
GRILLED BEEF TENDERLOIN
with olive oil and thyme mashed potatoes, truffle glazed spring vegetables
JAPANESE SELECTION OF UNAGI
barbecue eel stuffed with tofu and fish served with steamed rice, pickles and miso soup

The pattern seems to be four choices for TATL flights, with an additional Asian choice for TPAC: beef, chicken, fish or seafood, and vegetarian pasta, of course with variations on the preparations and trimmings. I suspect the details are changing monthly. Is this correct?

Are the D1 appetizers, salads, cheese, and desserts still basically the same as before the pre-order option was started?

Also, for those who don't preorder for some reason, including GUC upgrades at the gate, do they load a couple extra of each choice beyond what was ordered in advance or does DL follow the SQ book the cook procedure of having choices on the aircraft that are different from anything available as a preorder? [SQ has lots and lots more preorder choices, including for the second meal, but I remember once being disappointed that I couldn't get the on-board-only duck special.]

DL always over-caters D1, so customers who don't preselect shouldn't have any issues. I noticed that most on my recent ATL-AMS flight hadn't preordered.

Thank you both. I'll probably pre-order the chicken, too. I'm expecting mediocre, so hopefully I won't be too disappointed.

Yesterday I did the pre-order for my Wednesday flight MSP-AMS.

I am currently in 2J and want to move to 2A. This change can only be done at the gate so will that confuse the purser or is the pre-order directly linked to my name regardless of seat?

Based on my limited experience, the vast majority of people don't preorder. The preorder menu is identical to the onboard menu. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even adjust the catering numbers... preorder just sort of guarantees your choice (the T&C allow them to un-guarantee it for operational reasons) and makes pre-departure work slightly easier for the crew.
