This wiki is intended to contain a list of opportunities to fly internationally configured wide-body aircraft within the United States, aside from the usual JFK-LAX/SFO 767s and newer domestic DeltaOne routes. This is a collaborative wiki, not an OP-maintained thread; please contribute by editing the wiki directly as you become aware of regularly scheduled or repositioning flights. Schedules change far more frequently than community members have time to update this wiki; therefore please verify the equipment before purchasing a flight.

I agree, how is the 77L supposed to position between ATL and LAX? The 77L currently flies 2 routes out of LAX to HND and SYD but HND is switching to a 242 ton 333 in October so that means the 77L fleet is isolated from the rest of the fleet in ATL. They are still going to need to rotate the planes between ATL and LAX and it dosen't make much sense why because they have "suites" installed, why they can't run on it?

DTW is loosing it's 777 base so I doubt they would route it there. All other 77L flight are out of ATL so it makes no sense to not run it to rotate with the LAX-SYD flight. It's been running on ATL-LAX pretty much since LAX-SYD started back in 2009.

If I'm not mistaken, there's currently an A350 sitting at LAX 20 hours per day. DL could operate various domestic routes during those 20 hours, but they chose not to.
I'm not saying that's because of the suites, nor am I drawing any conclusions, just adding a data point to the discussion.

Anyone know how why this AC is being repositioned (I'm assuming)?
Also looks like there is a daily 767 turn SEA/DTW for the month of September (as referenced already above for Sep 30). Not sure if it's -300 or -400. DL.com shows lieflats in the "amenities" section and 767 as AC type, but seatmap shows a normal 737 seatmap....

Disappointed by the reduction of widebodies at SFO. Used to be a fairly consistent widebody to ATL, and a semi consistent one to DTW.
I have a couple of SFO-YUL trips coming up in F, and the only widebody option involves long connections at JFK to/from a CR2. I'm seriously considering AA for these. They are running a couple of daily reverse-herringbone A330s on SFO-PHL with good connections.

Eastbound: At least on paper, if you want to send it to JFK then you should be able to turn that plane for the 2125 (arr JFK 0600), 2250 (arr JFK 0722), or 2355 (arr JFK 0832) flight (the 2125 is a 757, as is the 2355; the 2250 is a 767). NB there's no LAX-JFK departure between 1605 and 2125 due to arrival times.
Westbound: The last departure you have from JFK that would make the existing LAX-PVG connection is the 0810 (arrives LAX 1110). That's the A330 departure right now.
Ideally, you'd want to send it out at 2125, get into JFK at 0600, depart JFK at 0810, and arrive back at LAX at 1110 for a departure around 1300. However, the fact that the 2125 departure is a 757 suggests that you'd be hosed on load factors EB. I'm also not sure where you'd be in terms of maintenance/turn schedules.
(I /also/ suspect that this would be a weekday-only thing, which would give you a day or two per week to do maintenance at LAX).
ATL and DTW are also options for this, but both of those routes are only running 737s or A321s on their overnight LAX flights, so an A350 would be a hell of an upgauge...and again, there's that EB departure hole after about 1600. Your best bet, if you wanted to shake some use out of those planes? Probably a run to SLC, SEA, or MSP (where the shorter run gives you more flexibility)...but you'd either need to do the departure in the morning and then get back to LAX in a hurry (SLC/SEA stand out here) or you're not connecting on the other end.

Nov 30th ATL-JFK there is a 767-400. I booked into main and upgraded to C+. Currently every single lay-flat is open so I'll roll the dice or
wait for a very lucrative buy up offer.
The plane appears to return as well.

I'd bet that it gets downgraded. Thanksgiving is the week before. Just way the dates fall this year there's a full week after Thanksgiving. I'd bet it's supposed to be the 23rd instead and someone screwed up what week is Tday.

I would wager you are 99% correct. Which is fine. If it doesn't great. If it does. That is fine as well.

No, you don't! Trust me The 767 seats in J are the old and cramped, the worst lie-flat seats in the fleet.
I'm not aware of an official thread. There are many discussion threads on the topic tho
