I noticed this today. My bar graph shows $2K-$3K. When I check my online Amex statement, it shows $2762 in charges since my last statement, or, beginning on Dec 30, so they must have their systems linked together for real-time info. By the same token, Amex access online always has your up-to-date SkyMiles balance (which has always spooked me a little) - and to have Delta knowing your up-to-the-minute spend seems even more weird.

Transcon BE Upgrades

I just found our these are no longer going to be complimentary. What was the rationale behind this? Will Delta actually be selling out their BE seats on these flights?

Well, they invested into buying some super fancy Westin bedding for those BE flights and apparently upgraded food offerings which now include caviar (just kidding!), so they cannot afford to give this product for free to their loyal flyers anymore.

You can save yourself time and money by picking up a Luvo meal from your grocer's freezer.
You carry a microwave with you?

It looks like the highest level is $25K+
Why would you want a higher level tracked? I have not heard of rollover MQDs

Rationale is pretty simple. Delta think limiting upgrades and selling the space will enhance revenue and profit. There are many folks on this website who disagree and some who agree. Time will tell.

Personally I think we will see more FCM on those route, with offers of $149 one way upgrades. What most folks don't think about (on this website) is there is more value to Delta in the $149 upgrade than $149. They are in fact attracting a high fare economy flyer (someone on a M or B fare) to buy the ticket. So say it's $1000 on AA in Coach and $1000 in coach on DL but $1149 on Delta in FC - folks will choose delta. So Delta captures, through FCM, more last minute economy flyers .

I've paid $49 to Upgrade a 5 hour transcon on Delta, but the reality was my fare was $1250. A win win and more revenue/profit to Delta.

Because those of us who have Platinum DL cards will geet a 2nd MQM boost at $50K & I believe Reserve cards at $60K.

Correct. But, of course, year-to-date spending is tracked on the AMEX site, too (not quite as timely, however!).

Delta to Discountinue Certain Complimentary Upgrades

A great way to reward their most frequent fliers....

But in light of significant investments in our coast-to-coast BusinessElite experience, which include premium amenities like fully flat-bed seats, Westin Heavenly In-Flight Bedding, on-demand entertainment, and premium dining, we will no longer offer Medallion Complimentary Upgrades on flights between New York-JFK and Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle beginning March 1, 2014.

I am sure people will just be lining up to pay $2,000+ for an upgrade to Business Elite.
