Ok, I am almost 100% sure this term was not created by someone who speaks Russian, but it's interesting to note that besides the standard meaning in colloquial Russian the word Kettle means a dummy, newbie, inexperienced person.
By the way, FT glossary defines the term Kettle here

Time for a refreshing change?
DL forum has always been hard-nosed and with the recent enhancements and the enhancements everyone knows are coming I expect the mood to worsen rather than improve.

Hey I fly Delta and am Proud to have finally made it to Silver, and I am looking forward to getting Gold this year, and with Luck I might make Platinum.
I don't have issues with the website, the Mobile app for my Ipad works and the Iphone too. I have used my miles to fly my wife with me on a trip, and will spend some to upgrade to First. I don't see them as anything other than miles I earned and will spend as I see fit.
None of these things makes me bad or less then any of the rest of you. So lets take a fresh look at why we are here and if you really hate it here and Delta so much then maybe you should find a new hangout online.

A Delta FA once jokingly told me their motto is, "We're not happy until you're not happy!".
I think it fits here.
I personally never liked the term "gate lice". The lack of overhead space, has resulted in a mad dash to get on the plane as early as possible. I don't blame people for rushing to get onboard. Also, Delta's boarding is confusing to the inexperienced. One would think that if you are Zone 1, you are the first group to board. In reality, Zone 1 is really Zone 4.

This is the most important statement I have seen for a while and coming from the new guy I think its something that needs an adjustment in here.

So I guess we should create some new terms for the Politically Correct, Non-Offensive DL forum...
OK, I will start..
We cannot use Kettle anymore... So how about we use Person Riding In Coach or PRIC for short...
We cannot use Dragon anymore... So how about Sky Club Uniformed Member or SCUM for short...
We cannot use Delta. Dumb anymore.. So how about we use Delta's Optimal Reservation Center or DORC.
Maybe this will make everyone feel warm and fuzzy...
Afterall, how offensive can the following story be?
The PRIC who booked his flight on DORC was not allowed in the Sky Club by the SCUM.
Yeah, that's much better....

I'm sure I've shared this story before but it's relevant here: A couple of years ago I attended a breakfast with the head marketing guy at WN. He commented that he can't think of another industry where customers are so loyal (due to the handcuffs of their frequent flier miles), yet hold such contempt for that company that holds their loyalty.
My response: So you're familiar with FlyerTalk?

I get what OP is trying to say, but like me, he's just a lowly FO. Give it time OP, you'll become just as frustrated with DL as the rest of us - and hence why some rant a bit from time to time. (me included)
And look, Delta.dumb is totally fair. Even DL admits their website is crazy.
Bottom line, a forum like this is about a community of travelers sharing their tips, tricks, advice and stories. Sometimes those are good, sometimes bad. We shouldn't be blasting folks for having an opinion and sometimes using creative language. It is often true and valid. Speaking from experience this year alone after 20 or so DL flights - there isn't much to be happy about.
