Time for a refreshing change?
Hey I fly Delta and am Proud to have finally made it to Silver, and I am looking forward to getting Gold this year, and with Luck I might make Platinum.
I don't have issues with the website, the Mobile app for my Ipad works and the Iphone too. I have used my miles to fly my wife with me on a trip, and will spend some to upgrade to First. I don't see them as anything other than miles I earned and will spend as I see fit.
None of these things makes me bad or less then any of the rest of you. So lets take a fresh look at why we are here and if you really hate it here and Delta so much then maybe you should find a new hangout online.

This is the most important statement I have seen for a while and coming from the new guy I think its something that needs an adjustment in here.

DLFan2 makes a great point, and that's why I'm active in this forum, but it doesn't address the quote included in the OP.
Using derogatory terms to discuss DL or PAX behavior may be therapeutic, especially when puked from behind the curtain of anonymity, but it's neither productive nor socially redeeming.
For example, I'd never say "puked from behind the curtain of anonymity" to my mother. (Sorry Mom!)

I don't think we use the term Kettle in a derogatory manner, it's really just shorthand. Someone may remark that a Kettle who held a boarding pass for 38C thought 3B looked really comfortable so he sat there. The descriptor Kettle just tells us it's a person who doesn't fly often.
I think we are harder on fellow elites than we are on Delta or Kettles. The DYKWIA thread on this forum is pure gold. And I think it serves a purpose in that we might sometimes recognize our own transgressions in those shameful tales, and correct our own behavior.

+1 for more civility.
I love Delta and believe that the vast majority of Delta employees (of which I was one when in college 30+ years ago) are dedicated to providing the customer with the best experience possible. Unfortunately, as in any population as big as Delta's employees, there will always be a few bad apples or good people who are just having a bad day.
And there are definitely those decision that Delta management makes that I may not agree with (read SkyMiles transfer at death, poor award availability), but I understand that some decisions are made by folks with a different, and possibly more informed, perspective than mine.
A healthy discussion of issues and concerns here is beneficial to both Delta and us customers. Name calling and uncivil discourse only take away from the valid messages that need to be heard.
Just my two cents... flame away!

We could always split into a "practical issues" board and a "debates" board to avoid offending people's sensibilities... I hear that works really well around here.
I'll admit, the Delta forum isn't the most "sunshine and rainbows" board on FT, but the word "kettle" is pretty ubiquitous here on FT. There are much bigger things to get worked up about.

So I guess we should create some new terms for the Politically Correct, Non-Offensive DL forum...
OK, I will start..
We cannot use Kettle anymore... So how about we use Person Riding In Coach or PRIC for short...
We cannot use Dragon anymore... So how about Sky Club Uniformed Member or SCUM for short...
We cannot use Delta. Dumb anymore.. So how about we use Delta's Optimal Reservation Center or DORC.
Maybe this will make everyone feel warm and fuzzy...
Afterall, how offensive can the following story be?
The PRIC who booked his flight on DORC was not allowed in the Sky Club by the SCUM.
Yeah, that's much better....

YMMVThis is not how the real world works. People will always complain and label. It's normal. And it makes FT more entertaining IMO.
No more chit chat about kettles and lounge dragons? C'mon. This is like asking New Yorkers to stop making fun of tourists. Never gonna happen.
I love FT for its snark. It would be so boring if we only saw posts giving praise and thanks.
