A disappointing experience - or a reflection of how things are?

..yet beyond all of this, the facts (as we know them at least) remain that it was wide open up there, so he was not really bothering anyone... and as someone who flew NRSA for many years, BE is a huge privelge and as long as the paying pax are not doing horrible things to you or the airplane, protocol is to smile and thank CO Woolman's desk that you are sitting there....
...and, beyond any of this... he had sick kids... dude had his hands full...

Actually, he did purchase two tickets in that cabin. I think anyone with high status would hope they would get upgraded... hell, I would... I think the word you were looking for here was expected and I just did not get that from what I read.

Wow, I actually read this whole thing, except for the original post which unfortunately has been removed.
Although some of the early responses were not very sympathetic, it seems to me that the OP is the one who took a bit of a confrontational tone early on to anyone who didn't fully agree with him. When you post an opinion (your perception of an event and how you think it should have been handled is pretty much an opinion) on an open, mostly anonymous Internet forum like this, I don't think it's realistic to expect everyone to see it your way. Or very productive to then just get mad and take your ball home. So maybe, just maybe, the OP's expectations on the plane weren't entirely realistic or productive either when the flight crew apparently did see it his way.

And, no, I was not looking for the word "expected"...I meant the word that I used - "hope". I don't think he (necessarily) expected an UG but he surely hoped for one, and perhaps that one of the FA's would have sympathy and want to keep a family together. He sat exactly where he should have, regardless of sick children.
