The aircraft will have PTVs. And this was NEVER in doubt. from day 1 of the mod the seats were in PEK with PTVs and they were approved already by the FAA. The CO 764 with the new monitors exited mod at the same time as the original 744 timeline. The 2 month delay was fully attributable to the cirrus suites having certification issues. They were delivered on time for the mod, but had later issues that caused the delay. FlyASAGuy had no what he was talking about when he reported on airliners.net several months ago that the first aircraft would not have PTVs in Y. So STOP spreading his misinformation.
I read airliners.net every once in a while and Flyasaguy seems like he knows his stuff. Glad to hear he was wrong about this though!

It's true...the long wait is finally over. Aircraft 6310 has completed installation and certification of the Flat Bed Interior mod in Beijing (PEK).
The aircraft will be routing to DTW via NRT on Jan. 26th. The NRT-DTW leg will be a revenue flight. Once the aircraft arrives in DTW a final FDA inspection is required to continue revenue service. Delta's Marketing group will conduct a photo/video shoot between Jan. 26-29 and we'll be posting images very soon.

Here is an update I got from a thread on Anet.
in my own words;
The 747 will not enter any kind of scheduled service until at least March. Up until then, it will only do charter flights. The modded aircraft will not begin scheduled service until at least 3 of them are completed. My interpration is that like when the 767T's were undergoing the mods, the 744 will show up as an equip sub at the last minute. Also. I believe the newly config 744 will appear as a 74S.

Just saw them! awesome indeed. Now, why in the world would DL have the first converted 744 doing charter service, and for whom?
I would imagine it will be a while before it enters service for which the paying public can fly on one/

The newly mod'ed 74S will not be put into scheduled service until late March, when 3 are ready is because they want to be able to have sufficient aircraft to operate a route.
Almost all of DL 744 routes require more than 1 airplane per day to cover the roundtrip.
Since there is a significant change in capacity, it could get really complicated with tail routings and aircraft swaps going between the 744 and 74S configuration.

Wow! These seats look awesome! The way the window seats actually face the window is great plus it adds privacy! I'm impressed! Can't wait to ride on one of these....and the Y seats with PTVs finally make the product competitive and up to date with international standards. I saw the plane parked at DTW yesterday. Was interesting to see 3 747s in gates at DTW. Must have been the NGO flight, NRT flight and the recently modified plane sitting there.
