*Note: This configuration is used inclusive on SEA-PVG, ATL-LOS. It also frequently works SEA-ATL to provide rotation. These aircraft do cover flights to Europe All 36J seats will be sold because it has a crew rest module installed. Also, the Y seats are the older ones like the 777 with the older IFE system (only 767-300ER type with that, all others are the newer seats/system).
**All retired 6/30/2020 due to COVID-related fleet simplifications

What DL is believed to do is put all flights with 26J as the 76Z Version 2 configuration and then change it to 76Z Version 1 closer to departure as needed. If you select 20-21CDE when it is 76Z Version 2 and it changes to 76Z Version 1, it should seat you in 13-14CDE considering that 20-21CDE doesn't exist on the configuration it changed to. All other seats are numbered the same regardless of Version 1 or 2, although there may be minor differences such as row 20 being an exit row on Version 1.

JFK-CPH

Another selfish "will my specific flight be upgraded" question:

Flying the nonstop from JFK to CPH on August 8, and back again on the 18th, my seat map from Delta indicates an older Gulf Air 763 in the 2-2-2 configuration. It seems like a long int'l flight to not be upgraded, but I think it might also be seasonal/less crowded and therefore a low priority. I also don't seem to have the same ability to check actual aircraft numbers that some of you do--think there's any odds this flight gets swapped out to a new interior before August? I sprung for economy comfort either way but would love seatback entertainment for a journey of that duration, particularly since it seems like much shorter long-haul domestic flights are already flying upgraded equipment.

Thanks anyone/everyone in advance!

I think that this, just as all the other routes serviced by 763s and A330s, it's a real hit-or-miss until all the modifications are done. For example, I just did two dummy bookings for round trips JFK-CPH. One was in June, the other in July. They had the refurbished 763s JFK-CPH, but the old 2-2-2 on the way back. Another dummy June booking shows the old 2-2-2 on the way out and back.

Also, just as a note, delta.com says the flight is scheduled for 8 1/2 hours. Sure, that's a long time, but not compared to a lot of the other routes the 763s fly. SLC-CDG used to have the old 763s and A332s until recently, and now they're mixing in a refurbished 763 in the schedule. The old one still flies JFK-IST as well as the new one, and that's a 10.5 hour flight. I fly JFK-ACC on the old 763, and it tends to be about 10 hours eastbound and 11 westbound.

I've flown in BE on the lie flat 764/763 a half dozen times or so. When on paid or award BE I've always had bulkhead seat and had no issues with the footwell.

On the couple of times I've gotten an OpUp I've gotten a seat where the seat is directly on the aisle -- without the console in between, and I found those comfortable but tight.

Yesterday I got an OpUp from AMS-DTW on a 763 and I had the console between me the aisle for the first time and I was not comfortable with the seat when flat. I could barely move my feet at all. Plus, as a 6'2" side sleeper in a world of 6' beds, I've usually slept with my knees slightly bent. I could not do this in this seat (though I could when I was directly on the aisle). I ended up putting into a recliner position and then I could get some sleep.

This all being said, it was still better than my EC seat in a full cabin in the back.

But when I'm in a position to choose a seat in advance, if I can't get the bulkhead, I'll make sure I'm directly on the aisle.

I've only been in the 777 seats between LAX and ATL and I had no problem with those. And the 330 (and old 747) seats never gave me any problems.

Thanks Brocklee. I guess I'll just keep an eye out as the date gets closer and hope for a pleasant surprise. (crossed fingers)

In summary, these five types will be flying around this summer:

76G = ex-Gulf Unrefurbished; 5 rows of BE recliners; 29BE seats for sale
76U = "regular" Unrefurbished: 6 rows of BE recliners; 35BE seats for sale

76Z = Refurbished 6-7 rows of flat-bed BE seats; 25 seats for sale; 200Y seats

By January/February 2014, the 76Gs and 76Us should be gone, and we should be left with the 76L, 76T, and 76Z.
Good summary.

Note that this is the 767 mod thread, and there is a separate one for the A330.
Did DL disclose the temp stop in A330 mods?

Ill be on this route a few times this summer. I don't remember specific dates but I've seen seat maps for the occasional upgraded 763. Hit or miss. This is a heavy leisure traveler route, so best of luck.

I fly both regularly and I fly solo. I MUCH prefer the 76 seats to the 77. The only seat I'm ok with on the 77 is row 7 as you don't have the person across the aisle from your looking at the side of your head. I've always thought the 77 configuration was downright ignorant, especially for couples traveling together. Who wants to have your back to your companion or have to talk/reach across the aisle in order to face them?

Having also flown both types of lie-flat seats a few times, I'll second the opinion that the newer seats on the 767s are better as far as layout and personal space. For me, the 767 lie-flats are also more comfortable for sleeping.

+1

(at least on 767-400ER; I presume on 767-300ERs it's the same seats and config)
