Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

Call recon, just send them the single IRS form, forget about the application, or.......? If I give up, is it worth applying for the Alaska personal card?
...
The hard inquiry on your personal credit file is standard practice not just for BofA but any business card (except Amex doesn't always do a hard pull for some existing customers). Up to you what you want to provide, if anything. I guess you're not out anything if you send the one form and try to talk them into that.

As a data point, I applied for the AS business card on 01 June, zeros all around, made 01 June the business start date. Went to pending. Just got an approval email today, so about 3 working days. I was actually shocked given how picky they're being. My oldest continuously open CC is with BofA, I had it since 1995 (it was MBNA at the time) and have had an AS personal for 2 years. No other accounts with BofA. I wouldn't have had a problem sending in personal tax returns but I wouldn't have had anything else.

I currently have the business card opened in June 2018, which I believe does not affect my eligibility for the bonus on the personal card.
Just as it states in the wiki, it's whether you held the card at any point during the preceding 24 month period - neither opening date nor bonus date are the starting point for the calculation. Sounds like you may have closed the personal card around May/June 2018? So you have about a year to wait for the 24 months to clear. Business card doesn't impact the personal card eligibility.

I read it as the discount issued. So if I get the code issued to me before 10/01/19 then old rules. If issued to me on 10/02/19 then new rules. But whatever.

"For companion fares issued on or after October 1, 2019, both the primary fare and the companion fare must be purchased using your Alaska Airlines credit card."

Data point to confirm what's in the wiki:
Last had an Alaska personal card last year, canceled it without lowering the credit limit, should've done my research.
Applied one week ago to 40k offer, was instantly approved for 4k credit line which means Platinum card instead of Signature. I just opened my welcome packet and thankfully saw the flyer stating "Receive 40000 miles and companion fare after spending $2k in 90 days", so indeed it looks like Platinum cards are no longer to be dreaded.
how can you get another personal now if your last one was within the preceding 24 months?

I recently applied for the business version and got below email:

Please provide the following:
  • Proof of business ownership or authorization to borrow on behalf of the business (e.g. corporate resolution, organization's meeting minutes, articles of incorporation, articles of organization or certificate of incorporation).
  • Verification of the legal structure of the business. Verification may include Articles of Inc/Articles of Org/Cert of Trade Name/Partnership agreement. For Non-Profit, provide primary mission (U.S or International) & legal classification (e.g. 501(c)(3)).
  • The two most recent accountant prepared, year-end business financial statements/tax returns
  • Your two most recent years of federal personal tax returns with all schedules. If you filed a tax extension, please provide a copy of your most recent W2 forms or, for sole proprietorships, an internally prepared year-end profit and loss statement.
How can I answer this since my business is sole proprietorship? I appreciate some helps.

That's the same exact thing that I just received from them a few weeks ago. I definitely WON'T give them my tax docs, will give them a few of the the other items, but i expect I'll get denied. Will let you know.

And yes, the Alaska biz card seems to be a LOT harder to get now.

It is not hard if you have legit business, not a churner's "business".

I've got a legit business (consultancy), but I'm not ok with giving up my tax returns just for a credit card.

Then just move on... We got no problem with instant approval on a couple of CCs at about the same time.

If I'm legit and I get nothing to hide, I would not mind sending bank the tax documents. Some of the business documents are public anyhow.

It seems harder but also it's not really certain what factors drive a demand for all sorts of documentation in some cases but not others. Or at least, the limited data set on here precludes any definitive conclusions. People with a "business" have been approved without any documentation requested and people with a real, longstanding business have had demands for backup documentation first - and vice versa.

Is it...random?...dependent upon the business information (industry/type of business, length of time, etc)?...dependent upon credit profile or other factors in the application? We only have a very small number of data points, many of which don't provide much detail - pretty hard to find a pattern with those limitations. And like most things, people tend to be more likely to post if the experience was negative, rather than positive.

BofA seems to keep changing, too - for awhile there were a number of folks who encountered a requirement to open a CD with the bank, but we haven't seen that as much recently. Have they moved away from that or have we just not had as many reports about it? Hard to say for sure.

i got the same in the same situation a few months ago. I called them up and just started to say that most of what they're asking for makes no sense based on my application, and they said (without even looking up my account) "you must be sole proprietor, if so, only the tax returns are needed". So apparently they send the same letter to everyone whether it makes sense or not.

However, after I sent in my tax returns, they denied me for insufficient business credit history. But that was only because they used some service that did not see that I had Citi and Amex cards at least 4 years ago (they claimed I had no business cards before 2 years ago per the business bureau they pulled).

I was in need to a new card for upcoming spend, so I bailed on that application (and thus didn't argue that I had more business card credit history than they had seen) and just applied for a different card from a different bank instead.

Does account conversion count as a closure? In other words if I converted my card from the AS Visa to another BoA card e.g. the Cash Back or Travel Rewards card, and then applied for the AS Visa 24 mo after conversion, would the system still consider the converted Cash Back card as a legacy AS Visa and deny me a new AS Visa?

My guess is that the system knows you had an AS card before and it retains the history of it. As for your chance of approval, wish you the best luck.

Ironically, most credit bureaus won't have a record of Business cards, assuming those accounts have no negative marks. They will show an HP, but not any Business cards opened. That's why you can open Business cards without it affecting your 5/24 status with Chase.
