Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

Soemtimes people will get 2,500 points to keep them, but otherwise cancel unless you need the annual companion cert.

Usually you have 30 days from when the AF posts to cancel and receive a full refund of the AF. Best to contact BOA and ask them though.

Might hurt your relationship with BofA if you do. Think future cards.

Did you mean your FIRST AF posted right after getting the card? If so, then hitting and running can sour your relationship as Phil pointed out above.

Question for those who have opened the Business Card with $1500 with a CD. Are you required to have a Business Checking account? Called and they said I needed a Business Checking account, which I do not have. I could apply for a CD online, but no place does it put info for my business. Thanks in advance for the help!

Ok no one answered my question but I finally opened my CD just doing it online and selecting 12 months and under 10k, no business checking was required. Opened immediately and then I put in the CD account number on the form BofA Small Business Lending sent me and emailed it right back. Today, my card was approved for $1500 limit. Hilarious. Finally back in the BofA Alaska game for my much deserved 31k points...

Just a datapoint:

I've had a number of AS personal cards over the past 3 years - 7 in total. My most recent card was about 6 months ago, which I closed about 2 months ago (after lowering credit line). I also have a AS business card that is about 3 months old that is still open, as well as a Merrill+ personal card which is about 6 months old.

I am about 30K miles short of an award I'm planning, so I decided to take my chances and throw in an app for another personal card. Based on the new 2/3/4 rules I do qualify for a new card (I did not break the 2/3/4 rule).

I was approved after being pending for 2 days, but not sure of credit limit yet. Did not call recon this time, but rather just tracked my app status online. I know there are reports of these approvals being rescinded so I will keep my eyes open, but so far so good.

Does your status online confirm whether it's a Signature card you got approved for?

That's why credit limit matters so much with Alaska personal cards, because if you get approved for less than $5k CL, you get the Platinum card instead of the Signature card and you get the 5k signup bonus instead of the 30k signup bonus. And in case the Platinum with its 5k signup bonus is not what you wanted , you want to figure that out as soon as possible, because AFAIK there is a time limit on trying to get it "reversed".

Damn it. As of last night online/phone status wasn't telling me the credit line, but this morning it showed up on my online account and it is a Platinum Plus with $2.5K limit. This is despite me lowering limits before closing cards, having a low limit on the Merrill+ card that is still open, etc. I took the risk not calling in when it went pending knowing that this could happen, thinking that my odds were better than having attention drawn to my 'active' account history, but here we are...

Recon is closed today so nothing I can do, though from what I remember I am kind of SOL regardless as the application has already been approved, correct?

Yep. Best practice with B/A in the past was to always apply when the Recon dept is open. Then after applying check immediately to see if you are approved for a plat or a Sig. If it's a plat, reapply (only one HP if on same day).

The second app will be declined, which in this case is what you want. Now call Recon, tell them you want the second app to be reopened and approved as a Sig, and the already approved app to be closed.

I'm not totally sure if this works anymore, as they may say only 1 app is allowed, but if it does, it's the only way to get around the dilemma you find yourself in.

But all is not lost, depending on how badly you want those AS miles. You can still call Recon, ask them to request (not guaranteed, but it's always worked for me) that Customer Service replace your app with a NEW app for a Sig card. When they do that, they email you about the higher AF etc. and have to wait 2 months (Yes, 2 months) to make sure you agree with that. Then they issue you a new Sig card, with all of the sign up bonuses you were expecting to get in the first place.

Please note, they have to do all of the above. If they only raise your CL to $5K, but don't do a new app from their side, you won't get the Sig sign up bonuses.

Good Luck....
