How to pay down CL quickly?
ACH push from other banks to wells fargo checking and then use that to pay credit card

Likely to get shut down if...?
- Have a negative balance
- Have a really high balance
- Cycling several times through your CL
- Calling in and getting caught by human eyes for suspicious activities.

To check what your 5X/5% window is:
In the rewards account, go to My Rewards -> Account Activity and the days left on the promo will show up at the top....looks like a pie chart.

To check which transactions get 5X/5% before your statement posts
Now, to check if new transactions are eligible for 5X before statement closes, go to "My Rewards" on the top and click "Activity" and set the start/end dates. You should see a "bonus earning" for 4% extra cash back for anything that's eligible.

Caps on 5x / 5%??
There are no more caps.

What to do when transaction not going through due to FA?

Read this thread and you'll find that Serve/BB are not really good options unless you don't want your payment applied for 2 weeks. External accounts mean other banks.

Have had this card for 4 months. I've paid with Serve, WF Checking, and BofA checking. Not surprisingly, WF checking is the fastest, the CL pops up quickly before 24 hrs. External accounts that are already recognized by WF (part of the payment drop down list) like BofA get processed quickly as well but may take an extra day. Serve, Bluebird take anywhere from 4 to 7 days in my experience. Never had to wait 2 weeks personally. I've also never had my CL held back once a payment is recognized by the system even as pending. I know others report having to wait a week or two to get there CL raised even after payment.

In my personal experience. I had a signature card, any payments applied as soon as posted, either Walmart billpay, BB, Serve. WF was the only one that was instant.

My brother has a platinum card. He has a 4-7 day wait on Walmart, BB, or Serve/RB. For WF checking it's instant.

Thank for the info, Jb! I had a platinum last year but my wife just got a Signature one. Great to know that Signature payments are still "instant".

Has anyone actually put serious 5x spend on this card in the last few weeks? Any problems?

yes and yes. Usual fraud alert problems. I'm usually good for 1 large purchase a day without issue. Today my 1st purchase kept getting declined - had to have fraud specialist's supervisor override something on the card, which finally worked.

My statement closes in a few days. I cut way back on MS to see what happens with the 5x. So far the bonus points are there and showing as pending. Has anyone had a statement close that had significant MS after Jan 15? Did those bonus points post for you?

I've had this card for 4 months. Has anyone made an outside payment with Serve or Bluebird or ? that was OVER $5,000? I plan on making one for around $8,000. My concern is this. My BofA account is tied into WF. I set that up with WF. It's in their drop down list as an approved payment. When I attempted to make payment of $6,000 it would not go through. Said I've exceeded the max amount allowed for an external payment. So I tried $5500, then $5100. Only when I did an even $5,000 did it work. I'm just wondering if the same rules apply to accounts such as Serve or Bluebird. Don't want WF rejecting a payment because it exceeds some internal limit they don't disclose.

I know some will say just break the $8,000 payment into 2 x $4,000 but someone also mentioned that you can only make a total of 5 payments per cycle before they cut you off. Want to make them as large as possible.

I can confirm that the limit is 5k if you pay from an external account on WF website. You are probably are doing that as well, but I transfer money from other banks into my WF checking and then pay a big amount. Initially the transfer is limited at 2k per transaction and 6k per month. But it goes up as time goes on.

I am interested in knowing the "tolerance level" of WF for outside billpay as well.

does anyone know how I can check if a certain target gives me 5% on my loads on the wells fargo website before statement cutoff? That way I dont have to wait a whole statement cycle?
