As of next monday, both EASA and ECDC will revoke their recommendation to wear these things in planes and on airports. The expectation is that most member states and/or EU based airlines that still have a mandate in place based on this recommendation will reconsider and revoke their mandates.
EU and most of the USA are back to sanity. That just leaves us with a mandate in New York, wonder how long that will remain viable.

We're flying on 17 May - so here's really hoping (although we'll be on UA - so maybe it will be loosely enforced anyway). Curious about MUC-VCE on EN, though. I would anticipate into Italy still being required to mask - but one could hope.

considering I’ve seen less than half of people including employees wear them at jfk and lax I wouldn’t worry about it. The mandates are completely unenforceable. Glad Europe is dropping them. Will make my next trip a little less awful.

Austria will remove entry restrictions from Monday. However, masks are still required in certain situations.

The test is much more burdensome, seeing as it requires (i) cash outlay, (ii) potentially much more advance planning depending on where you're departing from, and (iii) extra stress until the result comes in.

Exactly. And add to that stress and uncertainty related to being on the mercies of the agent checking your negative test certificate, who may or may not accept it. I have never tested positive for covid yet, but know it could happen.

Flew into Berlin the other day, first time in Europe in a few months and it could not be more different. Very few masks in sight, no questions in immigration, no nothing. It just feels like old times.

Boost for tourism as Spain set to drop Covid jab requirement for non-EU travellers ‘in a matter of days’
https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/s...110835-nt.html
They are still trying to coerce people into getting jabbed though, the need to have a negative test before coming in if unvaccinated will still put many off, and its got F all to do with science as once you are in Spain there's no requirement to actually isolate or wear a mask if you've got Covid.
