Miele are excellent, but very pricey in this country.

I second the recommendation for a Miele (if you want a canister vacuum). Ours is quiet and works very well. Ours cost about $250 from a vacuum cleaner store.

When we lived in NYC and had to clean apartments and not houses we had a series of Sharp canister vacuums. The Miele is much better than those and not that much more expensive.

So does anyone like DTW, the city, not the airport, the airport isn't bad.

I am the only person I know that likes going to Detroit on business, but that's because my aunt and uncle live about 10 mins from the place I work there. There is good Middle Eastern food there (large Arab population).

Any ideas on what to do about my return (I booked two one-ways)?

Pray that any weather waiver covers it?

Also, I posted a question for you over on teh other place. If you know of a way to get it to price that way, please let me know.

I can haz April 24-25.

These dates work for me as well - when the weather waiver comes, let's try and move DCA-SFO to these dates.

I'm probably going to hold off on doing anything with the EWR-DCA flights until Friday...

Heck, if I were you, I would see if CO would allow me to miss the inbound segment (assuming it cancels), and keep your return on Sunday... then find some way, any way, down to D.C. I think there are going to be some absolutely ridiculous VDB opportunities out of DCA in the coming days. You could probably spend all day Sunday and Monday taking successive bumps. :D

Do you think bars will be open?

The Brickskeller and the Hotel Palomar bar remained open during the last blizzard, but many of the other restaurants/bars on P Street closed by late afternoon.

I just change my DL flight to depart DCA tomorrow, overnight in MSP, and take my original flight to HNL on Friday. Any hotel recommendations for MSP?

Those are the stupid Americans that go freelance and try to make money under the table and then cross the wrong client and get deported. Not a real risk for someone actually working with a real organization.

In my case, one of our sister universities - not like those who are brought over as ESL teachers and then try to supplement income, which violates their work agreement / work authorization.

The W is pretty good, even in a regular room, and is pretty cheap for weekend rates (though it may be pretty pricey for a Thursday night stay). The Westin is also very nice, but I was judging based on suites (which I received both times). Both are convenient to light rail.

Good to know about the Brickskellar and Palomar. I think I know where I'm headed if I can make it up there.
