Yeah, I'm about to say goodbye to .11g - due to an upcoming addition to the family, I'm converting the home office to another kid's room, so I'm making my primary home PC a higher-end laptop (eyeing a 17" MBP) with all of my photo storage either on NAS drives, or on my old desktop which will become a HTPC / home server. Hence the need for uber-fast wireless. I'll probably keep .11g devices on the 2.4GHz band and run a wide-channel N on the 5.8GHz band. That way the older devices in the house (TiVo, work laptops with b/g NICs) won't slow down the "fast network", right?

No upgrades allowed for you.

Where did you hear this? I have noticed any problems with it, though I moved from a 11g to the Airport. I've been able to stream Netflix HD fine. :-:

Drobos come in USB, and they sell an add-on called DroboShare which provides an Ethernet port and support for up to two Drobos. Right there you bought yourself a networkable source for up to 32TB of stuff.

They do have some models with network connectivity.

I have mixed feelings on the Drobo. It's supposedly very easy to manage/use and it always receives good reviews but it's a little pricey (IMO) and I think that's mostly related to the ease of management/use.

If Jay said no, he goes against his inclination to do what is right for the network and betrays his principles. Jay saying no also likely causes Conan to attempt to walk immediately.

ETA: Hence my contention that Conan should have been permitted to walk in 2004. Who in their right mind goes to their bosses and says that they want the job of the #1 guy promised to them in a given time frame when the #1 guy has had no indication of losing his touch? Jay was #1 in late night by lots of viewers ever since the night that he had Hugh Grant on after the thing with the hooker. The sea change in late night viewing habits was when Leno looked at Hugh Grant and asked him point-blank "What the hell were you thinking?" in July of '95. Letterman was behind in the ratings for 14 years...a lead that Conan needed all of three weeks to evaporate.

Any Drobo model has the option of connectivity. That's why they sell the DroboShare as a separate component.

The price is directly tied to its ease of use, and there is a huge market for people willing to pay for convenience. Many pro photographers have moved their entire work libraries onto multiple Drobos, and they sync the Drobos against a master catalog by using an Aperture vault.

I forgot about Gottfried....he was fantastic! Props to George Carlin too.....I read somewhere that every stand up show of his was meticuliously scripted and rehersed so it was nice to see him rattling off "The Aristocrats" seemingly off the cuff.

My guess is that if NBC had to let one of them walk, they would have let Conan walk back then (which, funnily enough it what's happening now). Since Jay decided to go along with it and leave, he should have stayed gone. :-:
