I have run multiple WRT54G (with dd-wrt) for years and have been quite happy with them. IMO, the WRT54G (when combined with a custom firmware) is really an exception to all stereotypes about consumer routers. However, with a recent upgrade to our home Internet connection speed, the WRT54G has not been able to handle the higher speeds to wireless clients. So, it's time for an upgrade to a 802.11n router.

I need to consolidate my stuff as well, I have a Cisco Pix, a linksys wireless router, and a bunch of external drives.
That is too much for a general member. |

Sadly, the wireless throughput on the Airport Extreme is kind of poor and the advanced features are very limited.

I have mixed feelings on the Drobo. It's supposedly very easy to manage/use and it always receives good reviews but it's a little pricey (IMO) and I think that's mostly related to the ease of management/use. |

I dunno, he shouldn't have agreed to leave in 5 years then. :-:
ETA: Hence my contention that Conan should have been permitted to walk in 2004. Who in their right mind goes to their bosses and says that they want the job of the #1 guy promised to them in a given time frame when the #1 guy has had no indication of losing his touch? Jay was #1 in late night by lots of viewers ever since the night that he had Hugh Grant on after the thing with the hooker. The sea change in late night viewing habits was when Leno looked at Hugh Grant and asked him point-blank "What the hell were you thinking?" in July of '95. Letterman was behind in the ratings for 14 years...a lead that Conan needed all of three weeks to evaporate. |

They do have some models with network connectivity.

The price is directly tied to its ease of use, and there is a huge market for people willing to pay for convenience. Many pro photographers have moved their entire work libraries onto multiple Drobos, and they sync the Drobos against a master catalog by using an Aperture vault. |

He had a gun to his head. NBC came to him and said that Conan will walk if he does not have a promise of moving to 11:30. If Jay said no, he goes against his inclination to do what is right for the network and betrays his principles. Jay saying no also likely causes Conan to attempt to walk immediately.

When things get a little too technical in teh box, I like to bring down the common denominator, just a tad.
So, any plans for summer? |
