I stick to mixed drinks when in Thailand. I've yet to have an Asian beer that was any good.

I'd definitely like to tour some of the Whisky distilleries in Japan, though. Managed to snag a private tour of the Famous Grouse distillery in Crieff at one point. The tour-guide had worked for a time at a Japanese distillery, and confided that they were just about the only nation on Earth that had mastered the art of Scottish Whisky.

I rather enjoy the Viet Namese beers. I need to find the name of one; it was a great name. There are a lot of relatively mild ones, but I've found some that have more of a range.

Unfortunately no. I had to bail due to a conflict.

I'm hoping there's no cyclones while I am out there. Australia's having a rather busy season, this year. Exmouth took a direct hit from a Cat 5 (Australian scale, so a 4 on ours) just a few years back.

I bow to your experience and palate in that area ;)

But it would be your first cyclone, right? Maybe not as good as a FM dot, but you can add it to your natural disaster list.

Somebody recently posted about the Vietnamese Beer Trail. It looked pretty ^. I chalk it up to the French influence (for all their wine prowess, the French make some very good beers... especially in Alsace).

I did not like Ike (the after-effects, anyhow). :-:

My understanding is that claiming part of the home as an office screws you up when you sell the house. I don't claim my home office for that reason. Short-term v long-term, I suppose, but I'm doing OK without that claim. The mortgage definitely helps.

Its generally the states that have a bigger marriage penalty.

IL's taxes are pretty simple.

1) Find your federal AGI.
2) There's barely any deductions (529 plans and some random farming/energy credit stuff)
3) X 3%

Done.

The new Hyatt Place at town center can't get built quick enough

:td::td: I've done mattress runs there, but no actual stays. There's a new Springhill Suites in Rosenberg (right off 59) that would be about 10 mins. from town center.

How about WA or TX no state income tax.

So are Texas'. No State Income Tax. Granted, property taxes are no-doubt built into the rent I pay. However, Houston is one of the cheapest large metro areas in the U.S. for cost-of-living.
