Did you demand compensation?
Are you coming to SFO in April? It'll be interesting to see how upgrades play out there... :D |

It depends. In our situation, our 2009 withholdings were not properly set for what would be a joint filing (and therefore a higher tax bracket) so we underpaid our taxes.

I'd be pissed about losing something that I should have gotten to someone who is a lower status level, sure. But does SPG have a distinction on those who make Plat on stays vs. nights, and if so does it affect you? The way Mackieman said it, it sounded like idle bragging.

I thought Mackieman was referring to Marriott Plat. SPG Plat requires only 25 Stays or 50 Nights (not 75), and SPG makes no distinction between the two, AFAIK.

No, it's not. There is no stock that you are guaranteed to make money at. You are usually better off if you buy what you know.

I didn't have too much in the way of deductions. Thankfully (or not, depending), I had $1,850 in short-term capital losses to drag down the final tax bill... otherwise, paying Uncle Sam would have been rather unpleasant this year.

I think the total surcharge was around $7... so ~1.4cpm on SPG Points.

I got the first part of my federal refund and the refund from California, but because you can't e-file the form to get the homebuyer $8,000 credit (which is utterly ), I had to paper file a 1040-X and submit the form. Still waiting on the cash.

But, they do make distinctions on how long you've been Plat, how much you spend, how many nights (above 25) you've logged, etc. In PRG, they seemed to really fail on this as both you and :rolleyes:v should rank much higher than me.

When I was regularly flying to TYR in 2005-early 2007, they had a restaurant in that space. However, it was open very limited hours, and usually closed by 4:00 PM. I would have given them some evening business when flying home on the 7:00 PM flight to IAH, but they were never open that late.
At airports that small, operating a food and beverage business and making even a small profit has got to be a challenge. All the traffic is origin/destination, and people know they can show up 45 minutes before departure, check a bag, sit around 10 minutes waiting for security to open, clear security, and board the plane. You don't have a lot of people waiting around the airport, which is what it takes for a restaurant or bar in the terminal to really be successful. Other than the closed restaurant space, TYR really is one of the nicest small town airports I've ever seen. TSA has killed it for small airports, at the old terminal I used to be able to go in with my grandparents and get a burger that would put 'whataburger' to shame. It was a full restaurant with a bit of that old diner feel, and able to watch aircraft movements at the same time. it was the days before the 'sterile' area and all of course.... |
