No. Grab something close to the airport. I only put up with it on MSP-GEG runs for 2010 Rollover Stay Credits. I'm glad I did. Only need 5 more stays for 2011 Plat Requal.

If you time the light rails correctly at MSP, it's not too bad - about 20-25 minutes each way. I arrived at MSP around 11pm and returned the next morning around 6am and felt it was worth it.

Fair point. I guess I also had the additional motive of qualifying for SPG Plat.

It's a targeted offer from CO/HHonors. Watch your mail.

I would be very curious to know exactly what were the criteria for this targeting, since I got it too...

The :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: is very strong today!! I am here to confirm I am a complete idiot and have packed my passport in my :rolleyes:K storage unit. I believe it is located in my beverage cart there so i am overnighting the keys to a friend in OK who will check there for me. If passport is not found i will have to drive back to OK to find it in the unit. UGH!!!

The day before we were supposed to leave for BUD, I spent several hours with one of the other singers ripping apart his storage locker to find his passport. He figured I would have the best likelihood of helping him find it since I had helped pack up his entire apartment into the thing two months earlier. (yes, we did find it)

Is that really a question? Fly. A 10 hour drive isn't worth it, especially with the wear on your car. If a rental it is MAYBE a bit better but still not a good idea.

I drove from BTR to HHH a couple summers ago (there one Saturday, back the next Saturday). NEVER. AGAIN. The Florida Panhandle is pretty soul-draining. Seriously, I think my threshold is about 4 hours now, especially if I'm alone.

There was a "Narcoleptic Puppy" video that made the rounds when I was in college. I should look for it again... Hilarious.

I am definitely worried about getting to DCA on Friday, even if I can get onto the 2:45 pm flight.

Is there any brand out of vacuum out there that is worth buying? I need a new one.

I have a 4-year old Eureka Bagless. Hanging in there just great - not bad for $60 or so at (I think) Sam's Club.

Thanks for the response, Hartmann. I suspect it may just be the usual intermittent IT .

Sounds like a dream come true for ALCO. :D

Switching hotels on Saturday could be quite interesting...

Don't count on sidewalks being clear. During the last one, everyone was walking in the street because there were no cars around and the streets were easier to trot around on.

Sounds like PRG. Are there massive sheets of ice/snow falling from the rooftops as well? :)

Yes, generally.

ConciergeMike Feb 3, 2010 3:13 pm

ALCO in DC during a blizzard...I would pay to see this. :-: Too bad I will be...well...who knows at this point. If the snow comes down as hard as the forecasts say, I might be marooned at the apartment or stuck at the hotel.

I was also reading about your daughter's issues with feet and shoes and whatnot. My feet are royally screwed up, such that my left foot is about three inches longer than my right foot, my left leg is about a half an inch longer than my right leg, and the bones in my left foot never fused apart like they're supposed to when you're a kid. The end result is that every step I take is painful, and there is nothing that can be done about it.

I had orthotics when it really started becoming an issue when I was 14 or 15, but I would wear them out after six months and they would no longer be useful. My left foot is as flat as a board and there are about 37 different surgeries that could be tried, but with that many possibilities there is a very high likelihood that it surgery would make it worse than it is right now. This is why it is tough for me to walk long distances or stay standing for long periods of time (like at CO Do IV).

The crappy thing is that if they had caught this when they should've before I was six months old, they could've repaired it and I would've been find. Strange to think what my life might have been like. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. :)

Oh! I feel for you. It really is a royal pain to have feet that are different in size, shape, etc. from the "norm".

Because it was patently obvious that my daughter had an issue as soon as she was born - 4 toes on one foot kinda gives the game away - she was monitored from birth. She had full skeletal x-rays every six months, and from these the orthopods were able to plot her bone growth. Her leg length deficiency at birth was tiny, but it grew over time to almost 2 inches by the time she was 9yrs old. Because the ortho's were tracking the rate of bone growth, they were able to pinpoint an exact two week window in which to do the surgery on her longer leg. They scraped the growth plate out, and this allowed the shorter leg to keep growing and eventually catch up. It's incredible that now, at aged 17, there is less than half a centimetre of difference in her leg length. If we hadn't had such good ortho's, she would have had to have had the far more major leg lengtheing surgery that involves very painful stretching of the bones.

Her small foot will never catch up with her bigger foot. The bones are all fused together and so she has a very restricted range of motion. The foot is also quite bent. She had surgery when she was 9 and they reshaped the foot, used bone grafts, etc. from donors and managed to reconstruct her foot to a reasonable straightness. The surgery had an excruciatingly painful recovery period. Her large foot is a size 9 and her small foot is a size 4/5 depenidng on the style of shoe.

So, I can empathize with you. It's such a shame they didn't catch it earlier so you could have been spared the pain.

OK... so which one of you conjured up a snowstorm for the weekend? I soooo don't want to get stuck here in FTW tomorrow. Let's hope the disaster doesn't strike until Friday :)
