But how will you operate that butter churn without some heat?

I'm sure there is an advertising subsidy by the airport authority that is paying for these. @:-)

There often is. For a while in 2006, UA (via SkyWest) was offering RJ service from RFD (Rockford, IL) to DEN. If you don't know Northern Illinois, RFD is about a 75-90 minute drive up I-90 from ORD.

To incent people to fly out of RFD, the local airport authority was offering a cash bribe rebate on UA flights out of the airport for a short time. Mail in your ticket receipt, get back a check from the airport. It was pretty big - I think I got $350/each off $500 tickets (RFD-DEN-SLC).

Turned out to be a pretty good deal. It's 20-30 minutes from my house to ORD, 60-70 minutes to RFD. Throw in free parking at RFD and a liberal dose of IC points and Hertz points, and it made for a cheap Utah vacation. ^

Good morning box.

G'day, Box,

Extra day off.^ Got the snow(very little) cleared, errands run, and now it's time to be house bound and get the tree down.

Welcome back to all of our traveling Boxers.:)

19 degrees/7 wind chill. It's pretty warm today.:D Tug Hill is only up to 3 feet of snow. It's a slow year.

I discovered the cost of getting to whistler for the olympics is going to cost me 2-3x the cost of the ticket.

I feel I fail at life.

Sorry to hear - the first thing I did when I got home this morning (about 40 minutes ago) was check the furnace and basement. Assessing the operation of the furnace was easy, given it's 14 degrees outside and precisely 50 in the house ...

Ugh. I am so sorry to hear that.

Having had back-to-back years with a flooded kitchen from burst pipes (1/18/08 and 1/19/09) I have all the sympathy in the world. So disruptive.... :(

You may redeem yourself by leading a stellar tour of the Live Oak Brewery. You don't even need a passport for it. ;)

You might be wondering why I'm not in Gatlinburg. Apparently the Bluegreen resort company doesn't consider a non-functioning furnace to be a critical issue when it's 21 degrees outside. Add the fact that my townhouse smelled as if someone was actively smoking. Multiple phone calls couldn't get either issue resolved.

Lame. Sorry they cut your trip short.

I drove 12 hours yesterday - stopped in BNA (an hour from home) to use one of the Costco Hyatt certificates at the Hyatt Place BNA. In addition to the discounted cert, there's the matter of the double-stay credit, half-FFN, G2 bonus, diamond bonus, etc.
