SA long-haul is just as I remembered it... amazing seat and terrible food. Didn't matter, as I slept for most of the 11:40 flight.

Time to find a non-Etisalat internet connection or use a VPN (recently found this free one recommended by PC Magazine, though I don't have much experience with it yet).

While I like the convenience of mailing in my passport for renewal, I sometimes wish other options existed. In Mexico, for example, you can go into a Passport Office and come back out with your shiny new passport in less than 2 hours. Guess they understand passport withdrawal pain better! :D
