Mornin', CM. Hope you manage to stay warmer today. FWIW, a couple weeks ago Costco had some nice looking insulating ski wear (options from head to toe).
At least the cold is helping my sinuses to clear...I'm not coughing as hard and the cold hopefully won't lay the smack down on me. |

Managed to get CO to change the flight home to BCN-BRU-LHR-EWR with the last one on VS. Get to visit the Clubhouse, it seems.
Had to drop way more money than I wanted to get a one-way IST-BCN but the TK folks wouldn't budge on that. I managed to get the seats for 30% off their price via Travelocity so it isn't all bad. This unexpected expense does preclude me spending notably less on PRG DO, however. :( Still, looks like NYE in BCN is saved for us. |
I've just had the pleasure of shelling out $300 additional for our New Year's trip. My partner woke up this morning feeling truly awful and there's no way he can travel today. We've delayed our planned trip to DC (were supposed to leave about 90 minutes from now) and I found out the hard way that US is pretty ruthless with the change fees, even within 24 hours of a flight. It makes me appreciate airlines like CO that allow changes within 24 hours without raping you too badly, providing seats are available and you stick to that 24 hour window. So, for $314, we've now made a change to our flights. I'm hoping he's feeling a lot better tomorrow, otherwise we'll just call this whole thing a loss.
Fortunately, Starwood was much nicer about changing our award reservation at the W Washington DC. Despite Starwood's normal 24 hour cancellation policy (which I think is BS, since their competitors typically allow same-day cancellation), SPG changed our reservation for us with no hassle or penalty, and refunded one night's worth of points back to my account. Now I'm wondering what to do with the rest of my day. I worked all day yesterday to get through a massive list of things I needed to get done before this trip, and now I've got another day home. |

Sorry he's sick and you had to delay the trip, but this does sound like a prime opportunity to do not a damn thing. :)
It may end up being a day I don't do much except lounge around and take care of his needs. |

Great news on the passport front:
Your passport application locator number is xxxxxxx
We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you. You requested delivery by regular mail. Passport Agencies use Priority Mail. This means you should receive your passport on or about 01/04/2010. |
aloha box.
Not really, but kind of working from home today. If I don't take a vacation day I "lose" it so I'm not working but kind of am. () Most amusing part of my morning was when a couple of younger kids were playing in their front yard and the town truck came by to pick-up discarded Christmas trees. The kids watched in horror as their tree was turned to mulch in front of their eyes. One started crying and ran inside. Yes, I'm fully aware that the amusement this provided me has ensured me one spot closer to the fire in he!l. At least I don't mind heat. :-: Canuck is cooking her not at all famous tomato sauce. I don't have the heart to tell her, but . :D  ;) |
