A heads up to the football fans here. When your team is not playing do you put on the two other games and flick back and forth to see what's doing in both? Well that is what I frequently do but there is now a better answer.
It is called the Red Zone Channel and it does the switching back and forth for you and replays anything important it might have missed in all the games that are going on. You don't need to do anything but watch and watch you do because there are no (as in zero) commercials. I love it and I have it on my laptop along with the Sunday Ticket thing and never even looked at it since I used the service only to follow the Giants games while I was in Europe. I will investigate whether my cable company has it as an option because I am sure that it will look even better on a 50" screen than on the 11 incher that I used today. |
I absolutely love NFL Sunday Ticket. Even works on my BlackBerry, too. ^^

Definitely not Belichick's finest hour.

I don't watch any of that pre-game "what I'm gonna do" or post-game "how I did it" stuff and especially avoid the clowns masquerading as experts on those shows.
Nowadays I often turn off the sound during the games to spare myself the cliches and just plain blather coming out of the set. The best TV game production ever was about 10 or maybe 15 years ago when they broadcast a Jets game with no TV announcers, just the sound of the crowd, the PA announcer, and whatever the mikes picked up on the sidelines. That is all you really need, the rest is mostly bullsh*t. |
I had the volume down and was watching highlights out of the corner of my eye (had been recording lectures) until Belichick came on.

Done with lectures for tomorrow ...

Ok, this one I have to write about, but I'm not going to start a new thread for it. Did 299 IAHDEN tonight. Once in the air, asked for coffee with cream and received same. First FA asked if I wanted a refill, and I received same. After emptying that, second FA comes and takes cup, never asks if I want a refill. :( I go to the galley and mention that I really wanted a refill. First FA brings me a new cup. I finish that. Now a *third* FA comes and takes the cup without asking if I want a refill. :( Again I have to get up and ask for another refill, and again first FA brings me a fresh cup. I really don't know what to say. Just wow. |
Despite 1-2 pots of coffee most mornings, I couldn't have four cups on an evening flight anymore. Definitely odd service, though.

I now join the belynch and icuhere2 camp of disdain towards US.
I checked in for my return GEG-PHX-SFO-ORD flight in GEG and only got boarding passes for the first two. Didn't think much of it, figured I'd get the SFO-ORD one in PHX. Due to schedule changes, my connection in SFO went from two hours to 40 minutes and it requred a change of terminals and reclearing security. Thus, it was important to have a boarding pass before getting to SFO. In PHX, I walk up to the customer service counter to get my boarding pass and get a "is not possible". I get informed that United owns the record. I decide to hit the club and try there, same result though this person tried a bit more. So, I pull out the laptop and attempt to do OLCI. "Is not possible". After an hour on the phone with United, they tell me that it's a US flight, US stock and that they don't own the record. One woman at United said she wanted to talk to a US person, so I walk up the counter and hand over the phone and they try and the US person clearly says there is nothing she can do. The UA person stumped, said she was sorry but it's a US issue. In a valiant effort, I decided to hit a different concourse and a different agent. This one at least tried and spent a good 20 minutes and called people (unlike all the ohters). Unfortunately she was still trying at boarding time and I told her not to worry since I had to get on the flight. Off to the gate I go, to find out they've already done all boarding. No worries, the agents on all the other flights were keeping bins open for F passengers. Not so on this one. The FA informed me I had to check my bag and I told him that wasn't an option and why and reminded him it was a US issue I couldn't get my bp. He said I could walk back and put my bag in the back, to which I again explained the situation. He asked what I wanted to do and I simply said "if my bag can't stay up here then i don't want to be on this flight". At this point the GA came on board and understood and said he'd take care of it. We get upstairs and I tell the agent I'm going to EWR, but it's on two tickets. The agent says the best he can do is get me to ORD but not until tomorrow afternoon, which I informed him was not an option. I explained that I need to be back in NJ by the morning and that since they are both * tickets, he should be honoring them and getting me to EWR. He refused and said the best he can do to get me to ORD tomorrow afternoon. The US employees, as nice as some of them are, are incompetent and seem to miss the mark. The guy clearly didn't understand that I needed to be in NJ and not ORD tomorrow morning. He continued to ignore the fact that I'd be getting to ORD over 8 hours late and refused to understand why that may be an issue. Tomorrow I get to deal with customer service and setting up a dispute with the cc company. I can't wait until US folds, I will come to PHX personally and fornicate on the smoldering mess. |

If you're planning on going, I would suggest bringing your passport. Steve GadFly would be happy to join you. He has posted and talked about his desire to see Teh Hoff play in Germany.
