Asked this last night, but it was lost, with thoughts of US spinning off and away into serendipity.

I'll try again, because I'm curious: who could accommodate a hub at PHX? It's hard to image that city without one. Spin old HP back out as an independent?

Nope. Which is precisely why it will become WN country. I know WN is a major, but it is not normally considered a legacy.

That was the basis of my tag line from AM earlier this year. First Group owns Grey Hound (and Bolt too) and with the merger with the airlines they would create First Ted:

Maybe I'm wrong, but my gut feeling is that the traffic to/from PHX from just about everywhere is several times that for, say, SLC...

With the aforementioned SLC and with AA and DL both increasing operations at LAX, that would seem sufficient unless O/D is just demanding non-stops?

So, I guess O&D really doesn't tell a hub story.

Hm. However, consider that DL has a strong presence at SLC from the old Western days and, with the WN presence @ PHX, I don't think it'd make sense to see SLC abandoned for PHX.
