I too was rather surprised when I saw all of the investment in Terminal C and frankly I think it is approaching absurdity to invest in operations that make it difficult on connecting passengers and your staff. It seems to me that they are simply trying to flip CO & UA the bird.

Now if they want a club here so bad, which would be silly, move NW over to B and refurb the old RCC that is now a storage room.

Your assessment sounds dead-on. They really don't seem to be concerned with their customers or team members. It is also odd that C4 isn't being used at all.

It's just a matter of time until they move. Kind of crazy they are spending the cash to remodel now though.

I have a more devious view on it, maybe taking expenses to not turn a profit....

They are saving that for Lufthansa! :)

Interestingly, C4 is a wide body gate. One of the charter companies used to RON a DC10 there.

I just got the new points chart from Hilton. Not so bad, but 180k per night for Las Casitas Village & Golden Door Spa (3 Bedroom Ocean View) mentioned in the email is hysterical!

Oh? What did I miss?

There was an ex-CMB RTW fare that was very nice - and very quiet. It seems that after the booking but before the actual issuing of the ticket humans get involved. And those humans apparently uncovered the missing digit.

I got a very polite German on the phone asking me what I wanted to do about it. I wasn't at a computer so I couldn't verify if my tickets were actually issued or not so I've delayed the inevitable a bit, but I believe that it is inevitable that this one will not fly, so to speak.

Interesting. Just got an e-mail from Hilton about the new award charts. They also said they would be sending a free night certificate, good for categories 1-6 on the new chart, in a separate e-mail. Not thrilled about the increase in points, but I won't complain about the free night certificate either. That's a nice, unexpected bonus I'm sure we'll find a good use for sometime in the first half of 2010.

One other interesting thing — the e-mail has a return of the old Hilton logo that was used up until the mid/late 1990s (before the swirly blue H), but its turned on its side now.

80K for the Grand Wailea is a bit steep. Beautiful place but the service is ehhh.

Ahhh yes. That is not possible.

Wasn't me (although I could wish) - I loaded up on foreign bonds denominated in other currencies but marked in US dollars. I get the interest payments plus the principal "grows" if the US dollar falls ...

I got hosed on the certificate!

I bet they are leveraging their involvement on Mad Men, where a version of that logo made an appearance last week. I like it.

There may have been a digit missing to the left of the decimal point.

Good point. I like the new logo as well — much classier than the swirly blue H. The new logo is on the front page of the Hilton HHonors website now, but once you log in, it's back to the old logo.

I've enjoyed the storyline on Mad Men with Conrad Hilton. My partner was surprised to learn he started the company in Texas, with a hotel in a middle of nowhere small town.

Sucks you didn't get the free night. :(
