What do you do with them all, leave them on the ground for scavengers? :-:

The bird boys you hire pick most of them up and take them to their villages to feed family and friends. They will leave a few for the camp to cook for lunch/dinner.

This person is extra carefull. I'm talking someone who is a grandmother. (doesn't all ways mean much) Actually I noticed one of the Dell's you mentioned above available at Best Buy for the same price. It's last year's model which is not an issue in this case.

my grandmother keeps the screen open on hers, so the screen hinges being a little weak is not the biggest deal :p

It just hit me - SNA-HNL makes perfect sense. Larry must be buying a home on the North shore of Oahu for his retirement. @:-)

I just read the Hawaii press release...uh, ok. Not only has the tourism sucked in the recession, but I thought that Hawaii flights were generally losers for airlines and they basically offer the service because they have to, more or less.

The newest episode of the Simpsons pretty much sums up my feelings on technology and education.

Where did you purchase it?

Best Buy - the video company bought it for me, and I bought them out of it. I don't think MS Office came onboard at that price point.

Hey, I just thought of something else regarding the Hawaii flights...the release says "future Star Alliance partners" -- has Star been looking at Hawaiian?

They're not all money losers. Hawaii flights can, and do, make money. They just don't generate the high yields that many other flights do. It's the same approach that has to be taken with other tourist-heavy markets, like LAS and many Florida markets — there's a lot of competition on fare, but the idea is making it up on volume. Now, in the case of something like SNA-HNL on a 739ER, which is a fairly large plane, but just about the most efficient way to carry that many passengers over that kind of distance, it's possible to operate the route profitably, considering the large population base that surrounds SNA, and the lack of competition on that route. This is also a route that Aloha once flew, and I don't think anyone else has picked up the route before now.

CO also has a few more 739ERs showing up next year, as well as some 738s, and those planes have to go someplace. If they can operate these new routes with the 739ER profitably, then why not? It certainly beats sticking those big planes on domestic routes where the demand isn't there to fill the plane, and where they could potentially lose even more money.

Edit: Just re-read the press release. I didn't catch they were using the 73G out of SNA and the 738 to OGG. I had just assumed this was all going to be 739ER flying.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how these new routes perform.

More than likely they're referring to UA, US, and other current Star Alliance partners who serve Hawaii.

I believe SNA-HNL is going to be operated by 73Gs.

I'm guessing this is logistical with needing to get a fully loaded plane off the ground at SNA.
