Woo hoo!! Post 2000 for me!!:d:-::-::-::-:^^^now!

Day 2 at the worst of my clients. Half the people from yesterday's session aren't here, but I have new people, who want to know what they missed yesterday. Sorry, folks, yesterday's training was the 5th training on those topics (normally we do it once) and I'm not doing it a 6th time. We're moving on. Some of these people I'm seeing for the first time. They should have been here starting in May 2008, when I first kicked off this implementation. Showing up at this point is like showing up to a college class for the first time a week before the final and asking the professor to teach you everything you missed that semester in two days. It's not going to happen.

Agreed. They really only need two — IAH and EWR.

Congrats.

Computer Hardware question for the Box. I've been given a task to find someone a laptop computer around $500 + tax. Not a net book but a laptop. Needed for surfing and word for job searches. Any thoughts. What would be the minimum RAM for Vista? Cheap stuff seems to have an ultra low 2GB but the price seems to sky rocket going to 3GB.

My parents had this task this weekend when grandma's PC went out, and she wanted to see laptop before buying.

they ended up with a single core AMD 2.5ghz and 3GB RAm and 250GB HD for $349 at best buy with a 1 year warranty, it was listed at 399, they got it for 349 with an EXTRA 1 year warranty free
best buy is haggle central!

they had an AMD Dual 2.3 with 4GB for 499 as well, but parents did not think grandma needed dual and I agreed.

What do you do with them all, leave them on the ground for scavengers? :-:

Here are some sub-$500 notebooks from Dell that may be worth considering.

Keep in mind that many sub-$500 notebooks are usually made with the cheapest parts (not the actual computer components) available so the screen hinge and/or AC adapter might start to give you some problems after a year or so if you aren't extra careful.

Where did you purchase it?

I'm such a pushover. I'm teaching the same class I taught yesterday, allowing us to get further behind schedule, because five people whined and complained about not having ever been trained on this stuff.

But this is the last time with this client. I shouldn't have to teach the basic how to enter a new employee ID in your HR/payroll system this many times to the same people.

This person is extra carefull. I'm talking someone who is a grandmother. (doesn't all ways mean much) Actually I noticed one of the Dell's you mentioned above available at Best Buy for the same price. It's last year's model which is not an issue in this case.
