FlyerTalk has a 3 strikes policy. I would assume that he had his three swings and is now gone, though I don't know for certain.

ETA: He's actually not banned anymore, so I don't know where he is.

I booked BL Jrs bday party today. For those of you in the IAH, AUS or SAT area, you may know the venue - Alamo drafthouse theatre. Thought it would be better than Chuck E Cheese. So serious question here - in addition to friends and family; planning on inviting the kids in her preK class. It's a Baptist preschool. It's a child's party, but with the venue - I mean, that's not an issue is it? I know most of you aren't parents on here, but from a moral stance?

I wouldn't think for most parents it would be an issue. Granted you may have some at a Baptist preschool that object to drinking, but the reality is that it's a birthday party for little kids, and as such nobody's going to around asking if the attendees would like a Shiner. It's a movie theatre/restaurant that happens to serve beer, but how is that really any different from taking the family out to Chili's for burgers while people at other tables are ordering beers and margaritas? Of course I don't have kids and my views of such issues are pretty liberal, but I don't expect you'd have a major problem with the other parents. And I think that's a pretty cool idea for a birthday party. What movie will they be seeing?

baglady Aug 2, 2008 6:10 pm

It's the movie of our choice and BL JR wants Ratatouille; so I'm seeing Chef's hats as the goodie bags :) Actually, we've always served adult beverages to the adults at parties past (typically we've had bottles of wine and champagne but the party has been with dinner) but this will be early afternoon so unless we're doing mimosas I think it will be alcohol free ;).

You need to get her a child's chef coat then. Get name on it and everything.

Here is a site for Chef stuff for kids.
http://www.newchef.com/productcart/p...?idCategory=45

I am sure also Chef Wear and other chef websites have chef stuff for kids. Let me know if you need any ideas.

BTW, a chef I use to work with looks like the chef in the video. Make sure to get the Peez Chef Ratatouille for the gift bags.

Alcohol and Chefs go hand and hand. :)

She didn't see it enough on CO flights earlier this year? :D

It is still hot and disgusting down in south Florida. However, if you told me this in the middle of winter, I would consider you an a$$. :D

First and foremost, I love the Alamo D. I inevitably end up at it every year during SxSW to catch some flicks. I only wish something like it existed in CA and the NY/NJ area.

As for the question at hand. I don't think it's a huge issue. People should know what it is and if they are going to get offended by it, they can make the decision to not attend. You can't please everybody and if you are indeed presenting a children's movie, which it sounds like you are, then you should have nothing to worry about.

A wonderful summer's day in Palm Beach County and you are b*tching and moaning about it being too hot.

Just put on a swimsuit, stop complaining about "hot," and do what you are supposed to on a weekend day such as this. The summer is one of the most wonderful times around here. Really great swimming weather and no tourists gumming everything up.

I only have another week (actually 10 days) before I need to go to work in the North and Midwest. :(

I only let her watch the movies on the personal handsets; not the overhead - figured it was more prudent that way. She always has her own DVD and noise cancelling headphones with her :) Trust me, she's seen the movie at least 50 times, but that's what she wants to see. At least it's gender neutral. Scott, thanks for the suggestions and links - love the Pez dispenser idea^

Fozz, so you don't think I should do a Tromatic Thursday event or show up with my Growler ;) :D

FAMS Article

Was reading the Las Vegas Review Journal and say this article about the FAMS program. Very interesting information in it. The biggest surprise to me is the ease at which the reporter seems to have been able to find out about those that work in the program. For an agency that prides itself on being unseen it seems that they are not.

http://www.lvrj.com/news/26219069.html

Of course no mention of the fact that they take FC seats.

JAN has free, in-terminal wifi! Unfortunately, the airport is located in central Mississippi. They also have a poster on the wall as one walks past the security checkpoint that states: "Yes, we can read. Some of us can even write, too." (it then has photos of famous Mississippian Authors, like Faulkner). My guess is that they purchased the poster from an Alabama supplier, who assured them it says "Welcome to Mississippi." :D

His history says that he hasn't posted since the day he got booted the most recent time, which was 13 June. Ahh, blessed silence.
