Chateauneuf-du-Pape is for drinking, not for cooking. Just throw some red wine vinegar into the stew.

As Julia said, never cook with a wine you wouldn't drink.

I heart Julia.

Should vodka smell like rubbing alcohol?

My cooking reds for stews are either from this Burgundy category or this fabulous line. I picked up a number of 375's of the former for a dollar each earlier this year.

Somehow I suspected you would chime in. :D

I opted for a 2007 Montes Cabernet Carmenere, as my cheap-o 2003 Perrin & Fils Chateauneuf-du-Pape wasn't at the right temperature, and apparently requires a lot of time to breathe before it is at its best...

Note to self. Don't tell monitor I once used a nice Pomerol as an ingredient in an Italian Sausage & Peppers dish. :D

(I did drink most of it, I promise)

Well, with no gig tonight it was going to be a quiet night at home and an early bedtime......until some friends told me there's a pitcher of Yuengling and some hot-wings waiting for me at the North Brunswick Pub (my central Jersey peeps know what I'm talkin' about).

G'night Box.....I'm off to go make some bad decisions.
