Really? I thought pretty much all of Houston had curbside recycling if you were in a single family residence. Apartments and condos that don't use the city of Houston for trash pickup don't always have recycling though. However, if that's the case, there are several drop-off points the city operates for recycling. I used to make a run to the one on Westpark between Chimney Rock and Fountainview once a month. You don't even have to get out of the car; just pop the trunk and they take it out for you.

Does your Honda dealer in ATL only charge you for oil changes since (I'm guessing) you didn't buy the car there? Or am I not the norm in that I got my oil changes thrown in for life?

What car did you end up buying?

My last purchase wasn't too bad, at Russell and Smith Honda on 610 south. Requested a quote online, got a very good initial offer, went in, did a test drive, they knocked off some more off the price, and we were done. Only hassle was with the finance guy. I had already arranged financing and was walking in with a check from the bank. This guy was ticked I wasn't applying for financing with them, and then printed a contract with a bunch of extra garbage, totalling $2,500 on it. I told him to take it off. He argued. I told him I'd walk out. He grumbled, reprinted the contract, and we were done.

A week later I get a customer satisfaction survey call from Honda. I gave them a perfect score on everything but the finance department. A week after that I had a phone call from the dealership management wanting to know what the problem had been. I explained once again, and they ended up sending me some coupons for free oil changes and stuff.

I'll definitely let the customer satisfaction people know.

We bought a Prius and after driving it just twice, I'm really enjoying it. Drives like a normal car except for letting off the gas on highway, it stays at the same speed for a while powered by the battery, so if you're a speeder, it's the best choice.

The finance department was actually the easiest part. They actually offered me a better rate than my credit union, but the woman at the CU has been very easy going and great to work with, so I'm rewarding that with more business, even if it means $2-3 more dollars a month.

We did not do a thorough check yesterday at the dealership (it was 9:45pm when I left) and one of the smart keys is not coded correctly, so I have to go back and get that fixed.

It sounds like a call to 311 is in order.

They pick-up in certain places in Midtown, just not on his street. You need to call and request that they start pick-ups. Get your neighbors to do the same and eventually the city will get the message.

We had to do the same at our last place. They used to pick up across our intersection but not on our side. A neighbor asked if we were interested in recycling and told us to call. A few weeks later and a green bin was outside our door.

You're not the norm. Check your original sales contract; you may have paid for those without knowing it. Honda does not reguarly offer free oil changes with a new car purchase, and you're the first person I know of that's ever mentioned getting that from them.

Awesome! I love driving the Prius. In fact, it's the only Toyota I like driving. The new one is really nice too; not that the previous generation was bad, but I like the interior of the new one a lot more. I had the previous generation Prius as a rental from National at IAH last week. I drove about 350 miles on it and averaged around 47 MPG. It's a little harder in the older version to coast on electric power at highway speeds, but still doable once you get the hang of it.

The LAN seats put the CO seats to shame. Or at least it looks that way.

Hmmm. Even if I did pay something in the total of the car, I can rest assured that they have lost money on me. I've never changed the oil anywhere else, and at 5,000 miles apiece, that would work out my most recent oil change being the 25th or 26th in the car's life.

The interior is exactly what sold us on the 2010 model. The center console is so much better and beats that ugly central screen on the previous models.

Yeah, the new Prius is the first Toyota in a while that I've seen that the dash didn't yell "Fugly" back at me when I looked at it.

I must have been out of it Friday.

First I left my wireless mouse I travel with someplace. I think it's at the Hilton Garden Inn at IAH, where I spent Thursday night, but they claim they didn't find it.

Then Friday night, I had emergency work crap that came up Friday afternoon while I was trying to get home from Hartsfield-Jackson, unpack, repack, and get back to the airport for a 7:35 PM flight to BOS. Fortunately we were on FL (might be the only time you hear me say that), and they have Gogo Wi-Fi on all planes now, and I had a coupon for free access, so I was able to whip out the laptop and get the crap done while on the plane, saving me having to do it while we were vacationing in New Hampshire and Maine. In the process, I managed to misplace my SecurID token, which gets me onto our network at work. I didn't realize this until yesterday, when I pulled out the computer at home to get my work done, and couldn't find the thing. I opened a case with our IT support desk, they promised to overnight me a new token, and I made do with the BlackBerry as my only means of getting to my work e-mail yesterday.

Late last night, the SecurID token turns up in our dirty clothes bin . After finding it, my partner says "Here's your SecurID, maybe your mouse is in the hamper too ."

This morning FedEx drops off the new SecurID. The old one is now deactivated. I'm debating whether I should call IT and ask if they want the old one back (I've only had it since April) or if they want me to just trash it. Or maybe I should just toss it and not worry about it.

LA A340-300 (I think all but one have been retrofitted with the new J, and all the 763s now have those seats). The seat (and service) does indeed blow CO's J out of the water. LAN is a phenomenal airline. It's a shame they just gutted their FFP. IMO, the LA J seat is even better than the SA J seat, as it has better cushioning.

FYI, the cheapest J deals I've found to IPC from N. America originate from PUJ... @:-)
