Very windy here in downtown/midtown Houston. Storms are brewing. Looks like nighttime now.

Heard it was bad there earlier. CO even sent a Tweet about it, and when I clicked the link, I found that they were waiving change fees for travel to/from/via IAH today because of the weather. First time I've ever seen them do that for thunderstorms. Guess maybe they're learning how to better handle bad weather?

Storm near Aldine produced 70 mph winds at IAH. HOU reported 72 mph winds. I saw trees bending sideways here.
Moderately high winds should not knock out 75% of the traffic lights on Memorial and Washington. And, in the event that the traffic lights are, in fact, out, the traffic police really should do a bit more to help move traffic along than just sit in their cars with their lights flashing.:rolleyes: |

Some of our acronyms have become acceptable and known in mainstream civilian language. I think the most commonly known one might be SNAFU, or BOHICA.

They have fallen so far downhill that I have pretty much no respect for them any more. |

Honestly, the weather wasn't really that bad here...although it did highlight how woefully unprepared this town is for another hurricane.

Crazy good rental car deal from Alamo. Cars are $10-20 on weekends.
http://www.alamo.com/index.do?action...y10andUpV2_A_I They beat even my incredibly cheap Avis rate in Florida for my trip in September. |

Ive heard of SNAFU but not BOHICA and I don't know what either actually stand for. I always just thought snafu was a term used when you messed something up, but didn't realize it was an acronym. Also don't know what TU means either. |
