+1, I once declined the food (sandwich) because they handled cash and then prepared my food without changing the gloves. They had to prepare another.

Your LIM-IPC flight didn't occur in March, did it? I recall the TCS Expeditions Flight being announced for an extremely-delayed departure to Easter Island as I was preparing to board LIM-EWR.

It is almost as if they really want it. Or they want Republic to take on way more dept to keep it.

It's easier for them to raid DEN (for the moment) than it is CLT.

I mentioned this previously in the Box, but I've had success pushing payments (from bank to AmEx) in this situation. YMMV, so small "test" payments might be advisable.

wow WN has upped its bid for F9 by over $60 million.

Need to go a little higher, considering F9's biggest debtholder is Republic - there's little way WN can claim to the court that Republic's better off by getting a proportion of that $60m to satisfy $100m+ in debt.

Why would they want to buy F9 if they want to get rid of all the AC and replace them? Are the routes that lucrative? I suppose it makes opening all of them that much easier -- and reduces a competitor -- but it's still a rather expensive proposition.

I had to look at my outlook to check (funny how I have all this stuff in there). My LIM flight was on Feb 8 actually.

I believe the one in March was the last trip before TCS really scaled back their schedule. I remembered they announced a huge layoff in the middle of our trip. People we saw at the welcome reception were actually all laid off including one of the VPs. Luckily the tour guides were all contractors so nothing was affected during our trip.

the total offer is over $170M in cash. Republic holdings provided 40M in DIP financing.

I just got back from the bank. The manager asked me what was up with all the coins. I explained. He seemed confused until I spelled it out in words of one syllable. Then he understood, was slightly amused but nonplussed, and went back to what he was doing.

Yes, but Republic's bid was made knowing that they would have to write off F9's debt to Republic, valuing F9 at about 1/4 billion; WN's bid (although nominally higher in cash) is made knowing that it's intended to make Republic worse off as a debtholder.

They really want that operation at DEN. It will be interesting to see how many F9 cities they keep if they win it, and how many they drop. I'm sure IAH and DFW are gone, but what about airports like ATL, where F9 has been flying for a long time, but WN has always shunned? Could get interesting.

I expect WN will win this. It will be a shame to see the F9 brand disappear though.

I know I read on the $1 thread said to be cautious about not drawing attention.

The WN bid also includes the entirety of the Lynx assets and the existing Airbus commitments. The thread in WN-land is extremely interesting reading and is very detailed. They want to operate F9 as wholly-owned until Boeing can get them enough 737's to dump the Airbuses.

In other news, I am watching Grosse Pointe Blank for the umpteenth time and my new signature line reflects my love of dry dialogue.

WN has already announced no changes to F9 service should they win. @:-)
