It's my Monday.
I get to deal with it being a Sunday travel day....always full of drama. Too many families that aren't seated together, which seems to have me re-seating the entire aircraft to get everyone together. My  co-worker is there tonight. Wonder what team I'll be playing on this night. :D |

Tornado warning? In NJ? Has the RV population in NJ increased that much in recent years?

The  that passed through earlier this evening took out a tree in the front yard.

It's not looking good. FC is booked full, but 15/16 checked in. They are only over by 1. Looks like the s/o will clear the upgrade as my companion. |

I, however, am happily ensconced in the HGI at JAX, wondering how to spend my $400 VDB from DL. When I did OLCI earlier they noted that the flight was overbooked. I got to the SkyClub at JAX and casually inquired if it was still over. The agent said yes. I asked if I needed to go to the gate or if she could handle it there. She took my BP, asked me to have a seat and made the call to the gate. Before I had my beer in hand she came over to let me know that the offer was $400, a hotel room and a dinner & breakfast voucher, plus a seat on the 7am flight out tomorrow that still gets me to NYC to get to work on time. I was on that like white on rice. I somewhat jokingly suggested that the HGI would be my preferred hotel if they were taking requests. Apparently the Clarion is the normal DBC hotel here but they tried to find a supervisor to approve my request anyways. When they couldn't find one they just booked me right in. :D :D The only down side was that the dinner voucher was only $7, a sum too small to purchase ANYTHING at the only restaurant in the airport - Chili's. Still, since I had planned on buying dinner there anyways it was nice to get half a margarita for free as part of the deal. Now to figure out what to do with $400 in Delta D:cool:llars. |

I'm not sure about the Chili's at JAX but I've learned to focus on soup, salad, or soup/salad combos when I have the equivalent of a breakfast/lunch voucher; I've been pretty strident about getting the $13 (NW) or $14 for a dinner delay. |

I passed through SFO this morning. You should work the morning shift, aside from the rude check-in agents, the GAs all seemed lovely.
Currently the morning schedule for part-timers does not work for my real life schedule. I keep looking at it because it would be nice to work "normal" hours for a change. Hopefully soon. |

You're the second or third person that has commented on the rudeness of the morning check-in agents.....are they rude or just not happy?

Evening, Box. Having spent the last three days painting a my friend's new house in Houston from top to bottom, I am now going to sit on the couch and do nothing for the next 23 hours. ^

now they offered to change people's flight free to tomorrow due to the delay. about 20 people are doing it and paying for their own hotels. :-: |

I could find a good use for those DL dollars ...
I actually have a trip I need to take in September that the $400 would cover completely but I'm not sure I want to spend it on that since it was a trip that I had pretty much accounted for spending real money on, so I could spend this $400 on something else. Yes, I really think that way. Sad, really. So DL/Comair just canceled the flight that they VDB'd me from. My wife is still at the gate. I got the IM from her and she was stuck at the back of a long line at the counter. I call in the 800 number and it is busy. I try another 800 number for DL and it is also busy. Then I call the "special member services" number that I still remember from when my father used to fly that much. I get through. They are able to find the last seat on the JAX-CVG-LGA flight that gets in at 10:20am and hold it. I then tried to have them switch me to the connection and her to the non-stop since she needs to be there earlier than I do, I'm happier taking the connection (and the new lines on my map and extra miles) and since I'm an all-around nice guy. She was happy to do it for me but didn't want to actually do it since it would require releasing the seats to do the swap and the GAs would almost certainly grab them when that happened. So I had her notate the records and I'm calling back later tonight to handle that after the chaos dies down. And then I sent the shuttle bus over to pick her up to stay in the rather nice room that DL provided to me as part of the VDB. My sister, brother in law and two nephews are also on the same flight. I cannot imagine what they're doing now at the gate. I suppose I should call in and see if they need help, too. ETA: They need 3 seats, and DL has pretty much nothing for them. My B-I-L has to get to NYC for a funeral tomorrow. Not a fun time at JAX right now. |
