I know CO is a Texas based airline, and more often than not, I appreciate my little reminders of the South when I interact with CO. Whether its the occasional delightful Southern accent in a call center, or the biscuits with breakfast, I find CO's Southern heritage to be an asset.
Although I think they've officially taken this a step too far. I'm not sure when it first appeared, but last night was the first time I've encountered Mr. Z's beef jerky on a CO Ex flight. While this might appeal to the inter-Texas crowd, I think that's about where the demographic ends. Now, don't get me wrong, I've been known to snap into the occasional Slim Jim, but not since I was 12. Distributing beef jerky to a plane full of Yankees was amusing, and then startling. As we all know, ERJ's are rather "intimate." After a solid minute of everyone staring at their packages of dried beef in disbelief, the comments started. Soon, the entire plane was engaging in a dialog about the absurdity of being served beef jerky for supper. This went downhill when someone noted that the beef jerky originated in Brazil and half of the package was in Portuguese. Translations were offered, and soon the entire plane surmised that somewhere on the package, it said "not fit for human consumption" (perhaps this was a carry-over from the little package of silica that they put inside to keep the jerky "fresh"). I suppose that I too am suspect of a food stuff that lists "flavors" as an ingredient. Enter the perro. During the amusing all-plane conversation about the jerky someone noted that a dog, somewhere on board was quietly whimpering. Probably famished from his long journey. Someone somewhere then uttered the fateful words: "hey, I bet the dog would love the jerky." And sure enough, the owner brought the little Perro out from his carrying case, and began feeding it jerky. The dog seemed to love it and soon, everyone was passing their jerky to the owner of the dog. Because fate wasn't being tempted enough, someone then helpfully suggested that the dog would probably love jerky dipped in Rondele Parmesan Peppercorn spread and sure enough, the Perro gobbled it up. Things then settled down for about thirty minutes and just as we were beginning our initial decent, it started. Flying in and out of Newark, I've smelled some pretty rank things in my day, but what we all began smelling was absolutely overwhelming. Like Louie Anderson's septic system. In August. After he's eaten an Octopus. The little Perro was producing the most noxious fumes you've ever smelled. Little clouds of green gas permeated the cabin. Everyone looked around in horror, realizing the error of our ways. The woman sitting in 12A was staring intently at the exit window calculating just how desperately she wanted fresh air. It. Was. Horrific. Just writing this encounter is bringing a tear to my eye and a taste of vomit in the back of my mouth. Please CO. Either drop the jerky or put a warning label: not fit for human, or perro consumption. In English.

The American cousin could have arranged for a penalty boxer to fly to LAX and guest her into the PC, or AA club. :D What airline was she flying to MEL ? Would you do it for the miles?

You Asked: have you ever been to prison Alex: I like any vacation that saves me money and lets me earn OnePass miles. You Asked: did michael jackson die Alex: I like music from all over the world, but my all time favorite band has to be Jefferson Airplane I wonder if we will soon hear Jefferson Airlpane on CO!

Are there any particularly good food options at IAH? I somehow managed to end up on the only "snack" flights for my route tomorrow.

In my experience, B&N always seems to have higher prices. I know it makes me a bad FTer, but I'll almost always pass on a small number of miles to save some cash.

Any good non-fiction recommendations? I'm looking for a few more books to bring along on the honeymoon.
I decided I wanted to read some fiction and picked up I Am Legend. Within the first 100 pages it is much, much better than the movie. ^ |
I prefer the IAH Pappasito's to Pappadeux. It's pretty hard to screw up enchiladas.

I read it. It's a fast read and you will enjoy it because you fly CO. The best airline book I've read is Hard Landings.
My non-fiction interests are biographies, spy/war/CIA stuff and disasters (as in 9-11). Let me know if you want me to recommend anything from this grouping.
