I can't sleep, so I'm going thru my past Barnes & Noble orders and writing reviews for my LinkedIn reading list. I really like that application.

Any good non-fiction recommendations? I'm looking for a few more books to bring along on the honeymoon.

Uh-oh ... A list of song titles that are questions:

You Asked: Why Don't We Do It In the Road?
Alex: I don't have much time to read, but I did enjoy learning about Continental's history in Gordon Bethune's book "From Worst to First".

You Asked: Why Does It Always Rain On Me?
Alex: Here you will find a summary of the current weather conditions for the United States. For international weather information, select the Weather link below.

You Asked: What Have I Done to Deserve This?
Alex: I'm not sure I understand, please try rewording your question.

You Asked: What does the #%*! cat mean when she says 'meow'?
Alex: We are committed to providing a safe and comfortable travel experience for all of our customers, including pets. Review this page for information about traveling with animals.

You Asked: What Are You Doin' In My Life
Alex: There's always something going on at Continental. The Special Offers page is a great place to start looking at what we have going on this week.

You Asked: Is Jesus Your Pal?
Alex: I like to think that I treat everyone as my friend.

You Asked: How Do You Like Me Now?
Alex: I appreciate every customer who visits continental.com, and I look forward to answering your questions.

You Asked: Why Can't We be Friends?
Alex: I'm not sure how to answer that. I understand simple questions best, can you try asking that in a different way?

This was the order from the beginning of last week that wasn't supposed to ship until at least the 28th ...

Yeah, a few. If you want to place yourself on the waitlist for my copy of House of Mondavi, you would be #3. monitor is getting it this week, and then ALCO after him. If you haven't already, I would check out Dirty Tricks by Martin Gregory. The lengths to which BA went in trying and failing to squelch Branson and VS are mindblowing. cruisr has my copy of that...and I'd lay even money that she hasn't opened it yet. I would also highly recommend Charlie Wilson's War. If you want a story of unparalleled heroism and selflessness, pick up Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. For a business story that is mixed with the pleasure of golf, I would strongly recommend John Feinstein's take on how Bethpage Black ended up hosting the 2002 Open.

My nonfiction genres of choice are limited essentially to business history, biography, military history, golf, and the 2nd Amendment. My bookshelf is not terribly balanced, but The Box is nonetheless welcome to it.

Mine's pretty similar:

U.S. economic and business history, finance, biography, military history, golf, and baseball.

I only have a handful of baseball books: I recently bought Moneyball (at sbm12's recommendation/challenge) and I have The Greatest Game Ever Played, which is a chronicle of the '86 Mets.

I have a bunch of military history on my wishlist that I'm looking forward to: among others, a retrospective on the Pentagon program which magically imported Soviet fighters to the Nevada desert for our guys to study, and a unit history of an A-6 squadron in Vietnam.

Thanks for the suggestions, ConciergeMike. There are a few on your list that I have not read, so I'll check them out.

My book shelves are full of business, finance, travel, technology and most recently sociological type books. I'll read just about any type of recommended non-fiction that has some sort of connection to my interests.

My "adopted" grandfather was a WWII veteran, Class D catcher and a forced convert from lefty to righty. He couldn't understand someone eight inches taller than him being a catcher in college (I was 80 pounds lighter then). When he passed I was given all his books.

You're welcome. ^ If it's travel technology you seek, let me know. I have an extremely battered copy of the history of the Skunk Works, and I also have the book that came from Boeing giving a business reporter unfettered access to the design, building and testing of the 777. I've also recently gotten into rock history - the bios of Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Slash, and GnR all reside on my shelves.

Another who is familiar with the tools of ignorance. I caught in Little League and doing so made me painfully aware of a condition in my knees that took the chance of going further away from me.

Has anyone read "From Worst to First"? I picked up a very inexpensive copy a few weeks ago, and I think that's going to be my next read.

It's meh. Gordon is very self-congratulatory and also uses tons of expressions like "You can change the lead sled dog all you want, but in the back by the driver it's always smelling the same." There's books that I like because they're just plain good, and there's others that I would tell someone to read solely due to the information contained therein. Bethune's book is Column B for me by a country mile.
