Once the flights are booked with another Star carrier, don't they need to honor it even if it was booked using US miles?

Yes, there are actually protections within Star to protect members of star carriers if one fails or has issues.

Star golds are treated better. :)

Why did UA choose to refurbish the 777's last?

From what I remember, the 777 fleet posed the biggest cost and a larger seat loss. Additionally, they've been having issues getting the seats certified on the 777s. Something about the seats flying off.

As if I would even consider spending all those miles if JNB-EZE weren't in J. :D

FYI - There is lots of JNB-EZE availability in late Fall of this year, right up through New Year's.

True true. I wonder if UA can see those seats.... my UA balance is getting a bit high not to use.

This is my first foray into back to school supply shoppingg. I looked at the list and was surprised by these items:
1 box freezer Ziplock bags (quart)
1 box freezer Ziplock bags (gallon)
1 Paper towel roll
1 large container of baby wipes
(no pop-up dispensers)
2 large boxes of facial tissue
1 hand sanitizer

In my day, we had the dainty packs of tissues to take to school.

Yeah, and NA to Europe J is only 80K. I'm not sure I like what this promo says about their solvency, so I wouldn't book too far out on this one.

a thousand bucks to Europe in J on UA or LH? Nice. ^

Why settle for UA or LH. There are also LX and OS, among others, out there for the taking.

This promo has another upside: it says you are limited to 100k per transaction, 50k bought/50k bonus. There is probably no rule on repeat transactions, so who is to say that you can't buy some insane quantity of miles and just make sure that they are burned on premium cabins before US folds its tent? Surely this mile route is cheaper than retail for a Star RTW in J.

You Asked: how much do you weigh?
Alex: That depends on your monitor settings.

You Asked: how much do you weigh on a 640x480 screen?
Alex: I am better at answering questions about Continental. However, the answer to your question is: 307200.

Excellent fjord photos, sbm12. They bring back great memories of my first Norway trip. ^
