I would imagine a longer block time for that flight

They're the same cost but the PDX run is a few more miles. The SNA run, on the other hand, offers a new dot and a lot more new lines. Hmmm....

Are those Q-up's or just regular coach?

How much do these runs cost?

ITA shows them between $170 and $200 a/i but I have not been able to find availability. Not spectacular fares, but there are some nice routings that can get you 6-7k base miles.

You changed your question while I was responding... :p

I've flown this week on a number of aircraft in Y.

753, 738, and the 737(that is 737-700).

I have to say in exit rows, the 738 is by far the most comfortable padding and seat overall. The 737 has basically limitless legroom but the hard armrest that is more than just a rest, like a console, scores some minus points from me. The 753 gives me a buttache like nothing else, I hate it!

This was the first time for me to fly on these models within 24 hours of each other on 2+ hour flights and have a chance to really compare them. I've been rather fortunate to spend a lot of my time in 752s, 762/3's most of the time, much of it up front :)

Gotta love UA. Just went to check in for tomorrow's flights, and found myself automatically placed into E+ on the TPA-IAD segment. ^

Be forwarned, that flight had more kettles this morning than the WN FLL-TPA flight.

One guy couldn't understand what the FA meant by "handle in first". The two of them went back and forth for a good three minutes.

And then there was the remaining mile, right around the Brooklyn Bridge exit. Which took AN HOUR.

Sounds like my experience on the turnpike last weekend. two hours for 4 miles north of 16W. That sucked.

As for LGA, i've found minimizing exposure to the city and crossing at the GWB and going down the Deegan is generally the easiest.

Go for the new lines!

My first flight on WN was  Anyone who complains about how old and ratty UA's planes look should have been on this morning's WN plane. This thing was ancient. The bins were the old box style, the entire plane had massive discoloration.

The IFL lounge at JFK is nice, though nothing fabulous. At least a step up from the RCC.

And I'm in for the new AM game.

I forgot to post this earlier.
Last night at dinner my gf tells me that her mom was on an AA Flight from Miami to somewhere, and when she was on board she noticed a large german sheppard sitting in an aisle seat with a seatbelt on.
I immediately yelled "ERRONEOUS" and asked if it was a seeing-eye dog, and she said no. Her mom apparently talked to the lady who explained that she flies with her dog all the time. She buys a ticket for herself and one for the dog. ( He may or may not be AA Exec PLat )
I still don't know if i believe this is actually allowed, but apparently the gf's mom took pics of this on her iPhono and will be showing them to me.

It took me a lot of trial and error to figure this out. One of my favs was using props from HNL to west coast gateways until I could afford my jet fleet. It also took me awhile to learn what aircraft make the best sense and that it is critical to leverage partner hubs to generate revenue for you.

8 hours in an ATR42? I would jump out after 4! :)

Things I figured out included: Maximize the number of hubs you have, which means try not to put them all over the world. 4 domestic hubs is better than 2 domestic and one overseas as you incur more gate costs, and ultimately can't run as many routes.

For whatever reason there is a sizeable market for pairs like ORD-MDW, DCA-IAD, JFK-EWR-LGA, CDG-ORY and the like. Doesn't matter. Also, there is no perimeter rule for DCA or LGA.

So to get off to a fast start, pick a hub that has a ton of short routes nearby, such as the US East coast or LHR, so that your initial planes can get 6 or 7 turns in a day. As soon as you can afford another plane, buy it, and as soon as you run out of 1x service possibilities with the cheapy planes, open up another focus city as fast as possible. Don't go jet until you have maximized your routes with the props at the maximum number of hubs.

The ATR-72 is a great plane beacuse of its range, followed by the 733 with the engine that extends it range to 3975 miles. Just because CO won't run those to Europe doesn't mean you can't in AM. Don't go long haul until you've effectively run out of short haul routes, which is probably 2x per day at most. When you do go long haul, the 762-ER has incredible range.

I never did figure out if the drink charges made a difference.

Hey all!

Great morning of diving here in FLL and got to talk to a bunch of travel writers who happened to be on the same boat. Some of my photos from the dives have a chance to make it into a Canadian dive magazine and I might even get a blurb about me and my ridiculous travel obsession, err hobby. And the networking at the Freddies was pretty interesting. If nothing else, the folks here really are trying to convince everyone that their business model makes sense. And for the guys I talked to from loylogic last night, I think it actually might.

Oh, and a guy I went to middle and high school with was here working. That was a surprise. Hadn't seen him in ~14 years.

Time to hit the pool before dinner.
