I may see I I can sweet talk the rcc matron into doing it for free.

Agreed. That is some good stuff. The problem is that it requires a car. :(

No chance of that working out well for you. Just go to TXL. It is supposed to be a great city to visit. I'm a bit upset that it is too expensive on the dates I can go and that I'm going to HAM instead.

TXL is, indeed, a great place to visit.

+ 1

Trust me, it's worth getting a car. Afterwards go to Liliha Bakery for some Coco Puffs. Finally, for a snack, Leonard's Bakery for malasadas. Though you can do any of the above in any order and more than once :p.

I think I just gained 10 lbs. reading all these posts about food. Should I also have a shaved ice too? And here I wanted to do this on a budget. I think I'll have go go hike around diamond head just to work off the food (I intend to hike a bit anyway) ;)

IMO, there is nothing spectacular about shaved ice, but it's part of the Hawaii experience so it should not be missed.

I'd also recommend a stop at Leonard's Bakery for some malasadas. Yum!

EDIT: Oops, looks like kingalien beat me to the Leonard's recommendation.

You can walk to Leonard's Bakery from the Hyatt area, about 2 miles. Don't forget to buy some malasadas for the walk back :D.

Shaved ice is overrated IMO though if you've never had it, at least try it once.

It is semantics, I'll agree, but they are giving triple miles on the M+ fares, so I have no problem with them calling it 300%, even if it is only double what you would have received anyways.

Either way, they are smart to be encouraging the higher fares and not the lower ones.

I'm one of the poor and statusless and I haven't yet found a destination that I can't get a mileage upgrade to. There have been specific flights that have been blocked, but never a case of complete non-availability on the days I asked for.

Thanks everyone!

I haven't had shaved ice since I was about 10 and I agree, overrated. Actually shaved ice made it's way to Hawaii from Japan.

I was just asked if I want to spend a couple of day in Kona, free of rent.

For as rude as Philly fans are, why in the world would their arena blow an airhorn for an opposition goal? They did it both times now...in the same building inhabited by the same crowd that earlier in this game produced a chant of "A$$HOLE....A$$HOLE..." loud enough for TV when one of their own got penalized.

Were there FAs in the crowd?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Apparently your liver took that seriously.

Glad to see that you are alive, even if missing an organ.
