My other motivation for moving to an earlier flight would be a higher likelihood of cancellation as that's when the meat of the storm would be hitting EWR. I was hoping for a rebook in full Y for the extra EQM's (which I might need this year). But, comfort and sanity triumphed yet again. I'm such a bad FT'er. |

I briefly contemplated moving to an earlier flight tomorrow to give myself a larger cushion for when things go pear-shaped. But that would mean giving up my Exit row seat on a transcon, which I won't do without a fight.

Last time I was in Atlanta when it sn:rolleyes:wed was the freak spring blizzard back in the 90's. Paralyzed the city. I was fortunate to have a hotel room and a gas station up the road that had beer.^ About all you need in an emergency.

Good on sending it south, but I said send it HERE. Not to ATL :D
I love watching the ma and pa kettles go shopping and empty out the Brookshires, Kroger, Walmart and smaller independent grocers are the 12 hour mark before a possible flake of snow can fall. Of course we've already had our 2" of snow this year, and that normally is only a once in a couple years thing but the last 3 years has snowed twice so what do I know maybe will snow again. 3 years ago started this increased snow trend for us, and it snowed on christmas eve and Easter! |

Who here thinks we will see IAH-AMS upgauged due to the anticipated mess in EWR? Given the other post about blocked seats to DTW, this might be another good way to get the high revenue passengers to their TATL detinations without a huge delay.

(I was going to make steak and eggs for breakfast instead of sausage and biscuits, but I didn't want to be logey during the mini-golf tournament.) |

2) You missed a few very interesting airplane-related things near Seattle:
I'm back in BWI after my first 30 hours of flying. So far everything has been on time and running smoothly. I've slept on all 4 flights so far, which certainly is helping me get through this. I also got my first 739 but it was an old one, not a new ER. :( The AirTran flight at the gate next to the food court here was hit by the deicing truck and now the flight has been canceled. Whoopsie. |

There are two Boeing museums. This was surprising to me. There is the "Future of Flight" which is the factory tour. They also have a small museum space there which is pretty nice. The current exhibit is a 75-year retrospective on Air France. They have some dated material, like the reference to the great connectivity that Connexion by Boeing provides, but otherwise it is nice. But the museum part there is really an afterthought; not a ton to see. I think I spent 15 minutes walking through it. The cockpit of the 727 was pretty neat, as was the cross-section of the 787, including 2-3-2 Y seating, but we all know that is never going to see the light of day so it is more a tease than anything else.
The "History of Flight" museum is down near SEA (2 exits away, maybe??) and is much more like the Udver-Hazy center from what I could see. They were actually closed by the time I got there but there were a bunch of planes on display both inside and out. I got what I hope are some great shots of a TWA DC-2 they had out on the front lawn. I don't think that both can be done reasonably in an afternoon just based on the fact that they are ~45 minutes apart on the highway, but otherwise they both look pretty reasonable. As one with relatively easy access to Udvar-Hazy I would prioritize Future of Flight over History of Flight. And you're right about the museum at the Boeing tour in Everett. It's more of a short time killer, while you wait for your tour's appointed start time. It's interesting, but the real highlight up there is the tour. |

While I realize the box is full of UA haters, I personally don't get it. I've had some amazingly good service on UA both on PS and regular mainline. The biggest thing is the lack of consistency. Sometimes you get a crew that's truly amazing vs absolutely surly. In my experience, it's probably leaning in favor of the good side. And those good crew folks, they beat the pants off of CO's crew.
