Sounds like a southwest 737 backed into a 757-300 at FLL this morning.
Wonder what that does for my travel on that 757-300 next week......elevator is damaged.

Pretty amazing just how calm the pilot appears throughout the conversation. Just amazing. "Can't do it. We're going to be in the Hudson." And he doesn't seem fazed at all.

If it was a backing incident, that's on the tug driver and the rampers instead of the flight crew, no?

Really? The FAA guy at the beginning said it was a certified copy of the tape.

I don't think so. I think it is just excerpts, not a recreation.

Yes, incredibly calm. ATC seemed a bit shocked when he said they were going in to the Hudson.

Not at all - these are right from the recordings.

Why does it start and end with 'this is a re-recording'?

Seems to me it's from a copy of the original tape.

I think he is using "re-recording" in the sense that it was an edited version of the originally recorded transmission.

Maple syrup smell case in NYC is officially closed. It's from a fragrance/flavoring factory in NJ.
