You should so cash in on that. My Flatmate used to make a killing during the Edinburgh Festival each August. He could easily clear 4,000 Pounds by renting it out for the month.

The current system is awful. Period. I am a firm believer in some sort of playoff structure - the school presidents and bowl committees need to step out of their bank vaults and start focusing on what is best for the game and the fans that support it. Can you imagine if they applied this BCS "system" to college hoops? Come on now!

Its mostly the Rose Bowl , the PAC 10 and BIG TEN
that have said no way to the playoff system .
I agree
I needs to be fixed .

ETA: They could easily implement a conference title game for all the major conferences that do not have one, force ND to join a conference and then the first round of playoffs could be the conf title. Then have the bowls , and then the semifinal and championship game.

I have a load of friends that live downtown that were willing to let me occupado their couches for free. I axed that because they're all exes and the SBH will be with me (awkward.com).

I also have family out in NoVA that would have gladly let me use a guest room but they don't live close enough to a Metro station to make it convenient.

It's a work trip so when I saw the (relatively) reasonably priced Marriott I jumped on it. No inconveniencing anyone (except myself) and its (more or less) convenient, and there will be no awkward questions from auditors about the validity of "hotel COIE" and minibar charges posted to the amount of $.

Yes. A +1 simply will not suffice. With a +1 system this year, two of USC, Utah, UT, and/or Fla./OU would be excluded

+1 to that.

In addition to looking for yobs, today's challenge is to take a recipe that's kinda close and jury-rig into something closer for that TGI Friday's chicken and sausage pasta. I have not let go of the obsession. I'm tempted to go to my local Friday's and beg for the recipe. I took F&B 101, so I'm a-smart enough to adjust everything to change the yield.

The college bowl system perverts the game so badly that I refuse to watch. I also think it teaches poor sportsmanship because bigger rewards seem to come from bigger victories; i.e. they encourage running up the score. I love the mixed message from the NCAA: run up the score, but exhibit a startling degree of political correctness at all other times.

I am a huge BIG TEN fan and have always loved the Rose Bowl since I was a kid. Just something special growing up here in the midwest and watching that on 01 Jan. But more importantly, I am a fan of the sport and firmly believe there is a way to make this work for everyone. As an alumnus of the MAC, I think it would be unbelievably exciting to see smaller programs have the same opportunity to capture the national championship. Do I think many have a legitimate shot? No, probably not as they simply do not have the depth. But drawing on the hoops comparison, think of all of the excitement of a small team knocking off one of the big boys and advancing to the next round. Think of all the schools that have shocked the country and advanced to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8.

I'm just sayin...

One of those is in the EWR back yard out this way: Seton Hall, '89. Point made loud and clear when that happened.

My alma mater, Miami University, did so, as did Kent State. Remember when Coppin State made a run about ten years ago?

Vaguely. I'm of an age where the most recent Cinderella story that I can think of was George Mason. I also don't follow basketball...I find it hard to like a sport where the terms "one hundred points" and "defense" are used to talk about the same thing. Defending against scoring one hundred points to me is easy: don't shoot for the corner when playing SkeeBall.

You're probably right, and that's the sad part. The sauce is probably some Sysco mass-produced , and goofy old me has to try and do it the old-fashioned way.
